One of Canada's great folk singer songwriters he was Bob Dylan's favorite ...If You Could Read My Mind Love is a masterpiece and was Dylan's favorite song. Gordon played beautiful fingerstyle guitar often on his 12 string...I never got to see him perform but have his CD double boxed set which I love. RIP to a real legendary musician. 84 was a damned good run for anybody but especially for a guy who struggled with alcohol all his life. What a voice!

RIP

As good today as I imagine it was in '74. A legend.

Had to come back and post this...just came back from my weight room from doing my weekday workout. Turned on my music app with my saved playlist....and very first song that came on;

...Sundown.

Was kinda thinking Rod Serling might suddenly appear.

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they called Gitche Gumee
The lake it is said, never gives up her dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy

Great song!

If You Could Read My Mind is such a sad song. No fight, no betrayal, no big issue. Just recognition the feeling is gone and won't come back.

Neil Young, Bonnie Raitt, Carly Simon, and Joni Mitchell are still alive, if anyone is checking.

The recent passing of David Crosby, along with Leonard Cohen and Gordon Lightfoot, is bringing this musical era to a close.

Keith Richards will NEVER DIE!

Jeff Beck.

a great documentary about Gordon came out on Netflix a few years ago...not sure if they still carry it but it's a great watch.

Yeah, I saw that...I know that like us, he's fallible, but I had no idea of the struggles the guy went through...and the struggles he put people around him through.

I thought it was interesting that he only lived a couple years in the US before going back home to Canada and staying there for the rest of his life...he got a degree in music in Los Angeles and actually wrote the scores to all his music so he could copywrite and protect them properly. Alcohol and fame are a toxic mixture. He had a stroke a few years ago and couldn't use two of the fingers on his picking hand anymore so hired a guitarist until the end....he was a really underrated producer and guitarist
