Longest ever serving senator dies. Good bio here from the Washington Post here.

I'm not a fan, especially of his early career as a racist, but he did live an interesting and unusual life (how many senators spent 12 years as a butcher?) and changed quite a bit over the years.

Not happy he's dead, but happy he's out of the Senate.

Headline reminds me of Darius Miles Davis.

How sweet would the name Byrd Dead be for a musician?

He'll be easy to remember in West Virginia--pretty much any Federal Project over the past 40 years in that state is named after him.

Well, I guess so, for the portion of the population that can read.

Nobody over 60 should be allowed to hold public office.

That is not a bad idea. Although I'd prefer some sort of fitness test, sort of an SAT for the elderly, rather than an age cutoff. If you can demonstrate that your mind is sharp, then you can hold office, drive, etc. If not, well, off to the Soylent Green factory for you.

If you just use a lot of Elderly Sauce, you can't really taste the difference.

Just like baby seals taste better than the adult ones.
