Robert F. Kennedy’s granddaughter and her eight-year-old son are missing after their kayak got blown away when they paddled into a Maryland bay to retrieve a ball
  • A mother, 40, and her young son were seen in a 'small canoe or kayak' drifting in a bay at the Columbia Beach community pier at 4.30pm
  • David McKean confirmed on Thursday that his wife, Maeve Kennedy Townsend McKean, and son, eight-year-old Gideon Joseph Kennedy McKean, were missing
  • McKean said the pair 'popped into a canoe to chase it down. They just got farther out than they could handle and couldn't get back in'
  • Authorities called the search off at 7.30pm on Thursday, citing darkness
  • They did, however, find the kayak, and have resumed the search on Friday

It's super sweet that you guys hope they are ok.

I feel sorry for them and their family.

The Kennedy's have definitely had a lot of shitty luck.

The curse continues

The curse continues
It isn't really fair to call someone dying from something stupid a curse.

I almost decided to drive around a train crossing 30 years ago and I would have been killed with my girlfriend.

It would have been stupidity, not a curse. Or I was cursed WITH stupidity...whatever.

If it was just their deaths it would be an unfair assertion. However, the Kennedy family has suffered for generations at the hands of fate. War, assasinations, plane crashes, suicides, brain tumors, boating accidents, etc...so many in the family dad at early ages one after the next. The family is cursed.

Very sad!
Water demands great respect.

They've also lived a fabulous life of wealth and power.

The rescue needs to turn into a recovery. They're gone.

Yep, my father drowned while fishing the lower Deschutes for Summer salmon and I nearly drowned in the Coos River while fishing for winter steelhead. You can't have too much respect for water.

If you take your 8 year old child out in a canoe in choppy water WITHOUT A LIFE JACKET, you might be a Kennedy.

my great uncle drowned trying to swim across the willamette

The co-founder and Chairman of the Board at Tektronix, Jack Murdock, drowned while trying to swim across the Colombia. He crashed his light plane into the river and tried to make the swim so he could save the life of his secretary who was in the plane with him. Those of us who worked there at the time and knew something of his character knew him to be a hero. His secretary stayed with the floating plane and was rescued.

Sounds...fishy

Reading that they aren’t sure if it was the Cubans, the mob or if the kidnapper worked alone.

If your boat is sunk by the enemy in a war and you are miles from a nearly deserted island and you drag a wounded seaman all the way to shore saving his life, you might be a Kennedy.
