Robert Williams out for the season

If he is out for 4 weeks, that would very likely include the Playoffs as well. The season ends in 3 weeks on April 13. As brittle as he is, I can't imaging rushing him back early and trying to get his rehab, cardio and fitness up to be able to participate in a Play-in game.
I think the next 3 games…..Denver/Boston/Cleveland…… will kinda make this thread and RW3’s situation pretty moot.

Side note, I’ve never typed MOOT before.

I think if you were able to get a candid answer from Joe, he would tell you that he wanted to move a lot of vets this year

I might be able to credit that a little if I hadn't lived thru year after year of the same damn excuse for Olshey. The devil made him do it. In that case, the devil was the Paul & Jody act

I am really skeptical the Vulcans were compelling Cronin to bid against himself and give 160M to Grant, 100M to Simons, and 70M to Nurkic
or that the Vulcans made Cronin hard-cap the Blazers by signing Gary Payton
or that they made him match the dumb-ass offer sheet to Thybulle
or that the Vulcans were telling Cronin to always be dodging the luxury tax, season after season
or that the Vulcans forced Olshey into lusting after Ayton for 2 years before making him the centerpiece of the Dame trade
or that they forced him to bring in the injury-magnet in Timelord

I'm sorry, but this roster is 100% Cronin's. If the claim now is that bert won't let cronin stop straddling the fence that has flawed, high priced role player on one side, Cronin was still the person that built the fence that goes thru that pasture. Simons is the only player on the roster that was there when Cronin took over, and he re-signed Simons. And he brought in the other vets that apparently the claim is Bert won't let him trade. If Bert won't let him trade Thybulle or Simons, why did he let him trade Hart?

not buying it

Hart was traded for the same reason Dame was traded.
Not every player is an asshat.

We don’t need him for the play-in. We just need him good to go for the 2nd round.

It’s a bummer he looked like the best player on the court many minutes he was out there. Poor guy. Probably could have been a borderline all star with supreme health

You’re not wrong … though it doesn’t include the Good choices made — Clingan, Deni, Toumani, Sharpe, Scoot.
Some of those are “incomplete” as a grade or soon-to-be pending next contracts.

Simons and Grant’s contract were longgg but not awful given today’s dollars and % of cap. Ayton’s — in the context of Nurkic at PHX — looks a bit better with IND doing the max RFA offer. A healthy Thybulle hitting 3’s doesn’t look so bad. (Dallas wanting him for the old MLE money doesn’t justify the $$$ AND he is a good team defender.)

I won’t go on playing devil’s advocate on each …
The collective moves of Cronin — and it is his roster, now — mean this summer’s moves are HUGE. This cannot be overstated. He does NOT have to win trades and moves BUT he cannot lose his mind by retaining current vets who will not be starters soon enough (anywhere near their current or higher $$$).
