Pat Robertson didn't run for president in 1984. He did run against H. W. Bush in 1988, though. How many drugs did you actually do in the '70s? He also didn't start the Christian Coalition until 1989.

Well, I saw the form letters my owner-boss was receiving in 1984, a new phenomenon in campaigns. She was contributing. He had a nascent political campaign blended with his giant TV ministry fund-raising operation. In his form letters about Jesus, he pleaded for money in case he officially ran for President. He was on talk shows, interviewing like a candidate. Eventually, with advisors deciding he should wait 4 years, he pulled his toe out of the water. Trouble was, by 1988 the media cults worshiping both him and Reagan had diminished and party insiders had seen enough of him. His star had zenithed in 1984, but his own party had an incumbent president then.
