Rodney Hood a Blazer

...unless there is another move coming.

If you think I'll sit around as the world goes by
You're thinkin' like a fool cause it's a case of do or die
Out there is a fortune waiting to be had
If you think I'll let you go you're mad
You've got another move comin'
You've got another move comin'

The roster is 'begging' for some type of consolidation to more quality over quantity. Let's hope Neil is up to the challenge.

How many years have the Blazers talked about consolidation trades? How many have they actually made?

I know such trades aren't that easy - but if it isn't going to happen, they need to stop talking about it!

One good thing about this trade...

It wasn't financially motivated so people can't claim that Olshey only traded for Hood because of the salary impact and that he just lucked into any contribution Hood brings.
Agreed, I thought all year whatever moves they made would be cap related. Now it could be a “precursor” type of deal that leads to something bigger for salary cap stuff. However right now it appears to not be motivated by the cap!

No - but if the Blazers do better than 0-4 in the play-offs you can bet he will claim this deal was the sole difference maker! :devilwink:

I actually wouldn't mind doing a tax saving move now. It would potentially clear up some of the rotation issues.

My whole point is this trade will be judged strictly on the players/picks involved and not any other reasons.

Hood is slightly less horrible than Stauskas. Both aren't moving the needle (unless you want it to move off the record). He's a chucker with bad shot selection, bad passer, stinking attitude, doesn't know his own limitations, not a reliable scorer and not a playmaker or defender. He's a decent pick & roll player.

......Ehhhhhhhhhh not so sure about that FAMS.

Did you get a different vibe from him? Earlier in the season it sounded like he thought this was going to be the opportunity that turned his career around.

So here's my proposal. Twice a season, there is a random trade. One player from each team is put into a hat and randomly reassigned to another team.
Could be Trent Jr. that gets traded, could be Damian. We could get LeBron back, we could get Raymond Felton.

I'm all for musical chairs. If a G-League coach can handle it, so can an NBA coach. That would be much more fun than now.

I'm generally with you jlprk unless one doesn't like the trade much. For instance, I think this is a good one, and leaves our 1st intact. I did not like the Afflalo trade, and the reasoning that you trade away 8+ years of control over a future young player to rent-a-bench-player. Frankly, I would've probably preferred Wayne Ellington in the "one-year player without Bird Rights for the puu puu platter" deal, but that's picking nits.
Similarly, if we traded our 1st for Terrence Ross, I wouldn't like it, even though I like Ross's game.

The fact that you have to go back so many years to find a comparison shows how few trades Olshey makes.

P.S. Where's that post you made years ago listing all the 2nd-round picks Olshey had traded. Because he gave another 2 of them to get Trent, and another 2 today.

To, the easiest way to break down players is into 4 categories, Guards (PGs/Combo Guard), Wings (Bigger SGs and SFs), Forwards (SF/PF types), and bigs (Bigger PFs and Cs)

Guards: Lillard, McCollum, Curry, Simons
Wings: Hood, Turner, Trent
Forwards: Harkless, Aminu, Layman
Bigs: Nurkic, Collins, Leonard, Swanigan

Ha ha! What a dreamer!

Wrong! They need to talk more not less and increase the pressure on him.

This is what we owe:

2019 2nd to originally to Orlando (Layman Trade) it may convey to LAC though

2020 2nd originally to Orlando (Harkless Trade) it now belongs to the Nets after several trades but this pick is TOP-55 protected

2021 2nd to Cleveland (Hood Trade)

2023 2nd to Cleveland (Hood Trade)

......Ehhhhhhhhhh not so sure about that FAMS.

He was Olshey's first signing in July, so he probably would have gone elsewhere without Olshey making him expect a lot of minutes. Maybe he was lately wishing he had picked another team.

Now that looks like the correct personnel breakdown.

You I going to wait and see what Hood bring us. Some people not going like and not upgrade and some people think it is a decent trade. Me right now he is upgrade from Nik and Baldwin. Everyone has there opinion about every player. Me I thought Nik started out alright and Baldwin I didn't like him as player but that my opinion. Hood it like he go out give 20 one night and 3 the next night that off his January stats. But I going to give him chance to prove his self on our team or not.

2nd-round picks:
This (not updated today) says we have none in 2019 and 2020, but 2 in 2021, and our own picks after that. So subtract 1 from 2021 and 2023, and you get, our next one is 1 in 2021, 2022, 2024, and every year thereafter.

Edit: It says 2020 is top-55 protected as you said.

I don't know what that site is but I posted the correct information, trust me I study this.

The two picks we traded the Kings for the rights to Trent were a 2019 2nd that wasn't ours (more favorable of Wolves or Lakers) and a 2021 pick from Miami.

It's the most detailed site and I've used it for 10-15 years. You listed what we owe, and I, what we own.

We still own our own 2021 2nd-round pick, even after giving up Miami's 2021 today.

Ughhh just stop. We gave up Miami's one in the Trent trade and ours today in the Hood trade. Your site is wrong and is failing you. My list is 100% accurate.

My site doesn't have today's transaction, so I'm going by what you tell me for today's Hood trade.

I see I misread that post. I thought you said Miami's pick went for Hood, but you said for Trent. The mistake is mine (in reading your post), not my favorite site's. Blame me, not the site, which is great. I agree, I'll stop.

If you fancy yourself a student of future picks, you should master my site. It's worth the effort. It's also the best at listing all past transactions.

No offense but your site still shows that we have Miami's 2021 2nd so I am going to choose not to "master" a site that doesn't even have the correct information.
