It may have taken him almost nine hours to complete his first round, but Roger Tambellini's patience in two different kinds of weather eventually paid off with the lead after the first day of the 2011 Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open. The lanky, 36-year-old Californian used a hot start and then held on to post a 7-under-par 64 and enjoys a one-stroke lead over Matt Davidson, the first-round leader at last year's event in Wichita, who still has seven holes to go to complete his round. Four players, including Kevin Johnson, a winner in Wichita in 2006, and Australian Matthew Goggin, the Nationwide Tour's leading money-winner this year, trail by just two strokes.
