You know, there was actually one president who shrunk the size of government - Clinton.

i think the bigger problem is his magical underwear, and that he believes that all christians are going to hell.

Abortion is murder. You can argue it isn't, but at some point you were a fetus, and I couldn't kill you and get away with it

At some point long before we were fetuses, we were many forms of nutrition from a myriad of sources that our eventual parents ate.

You could have killed me then simply by eating that apple my dad was reaching for.

And get away with it.

At what point does something become a human life?

Who honestly thought Bush was going to be fiscally conservative and reduce the size of the federal government?

When these problems aren't confronted, it builds a wall within our nation. On one side are wealth and technology, education and ambition.

On the other side of the wall are poverty and prison, addiction and despair.

And, my fellow Americans, we must tear down that wall.

Big government is not the answer. But the alternative to bureaucracy is not indifference.
-George Bush Republican nomination acceptance speech, 2000

So we have the tax relief plan, which is important for fiscal stimulus, coupled with Social Security being off limits except for -- except for emergency. That now provides a new kind -- a fiscal straightjacket for Congress. And that's good for the taxpayers, and it's incredibly positive news if you're worried about a federal government that has been growing at a dramatic pace over the past eight years and it has been.
-George Bush, November 2001

RomneyCare is going to kill Mitt in the GOP primaries, as it should. He admits it was a failure, but the problem is, the citizens of MA are still trying to pay for that mistake.

Are you really questioning whether or not politicians say things just to get votes?

There is no discrete point where a fetus becomes a human. A human embryo is very similar to the embryo of various other creatures and it's a continuous process during (at least a part of) gestation that gene expression separates it from how other animal embryos develop. Most doctors and biologists seem to agree that it's not what we'd consider to be distinctly human in the first trimester and that it is in the third trimester.

So it's during the second trimester that the developing fetus develops enough human characteristic to be clearly distinguished as a human. Thus, I think abortion for any reason should be allowed in the first trimester and only to save the life of the mother beyond that.

I'm not a doctor or a biologist, this is just my understanding. I've never had an issue with people who feel differently than I do about abortion...I can easily understand and merit differing viewpoints on this issue.

A politician said something in a speech that didn't align with their previous actions and what it was obvious they really stood for??? SHOCKER!

...and Romney is going to be different how?

That was the point of the question... in order to have a view on abortion, one needs to have a view on when something becomes a human life. It is entirely reasonable to believe that something with the complete DNA structure of a human is a human life.

What gets ridiculous is the strawman of those being sarcastic with the "eating an apple is murder because it could have been nutrients that led to human life".

It's too bad Bill Clinton is considered to be on the far right wing of his party. In the early 90s I considered myself a DLC Democrat.

It seems that kind of bold faced lying is contagious.

I liked Bush's response to the War On Terror, but domestically he was a disaster.

Bush didn't lie in Klinky's quotes, though. Read them again.

Bush loved big government. He may not have lied in the specific quotes, but small government was lip service to him.

i hope the gop puts up someone awesome so i can vote for them

This.

Like all life, there is no beginning or end, only the ebb and flow of continuity, mutation, evolution, and metamorphosis.

Did you miss the word "human"? I even put it in italics originally for you.

Just as an egg becomes a bird when it breathes it's first air, a human fetus becomes a human "life" when it breathes it's first air.

I don't have to have this or any other view in order to have a view on abortion, because my view is that not being able to give birth. nor desiring to raise more children, it's none of my business.

Unless you are willing to step up and raise every unwanted baby in the world until they become a responsible adult, it's none of yours either.

There is nothing ridiculous or sarcastic in my post about how I view the chain of life, and it's certainly no strawman. It's just doesn't fit into your narrow parameters and false suppositions.
