“To all of the thousands of good and decent Americans I’ve met who want nothing more than a better chance, a fighting chance,” he plans to add. “To all of you, I have a simple message: Hold on a little longer. A better America begins tonight.”

Romney also mocks Obama for his dramatic display at the 2008 Democratic National Convention, where he filled a football stadium and emerged to a column-filled stage.

“Four years ago Barack Obama dazzled us in front of Greek columns with sweeping promises of hope and change,” Romney says in his remarks. “But after we came down to earth, after the celebration and parades, what do we have to show for three and a half years of President Obama?”

In an homage to the political mantra of Ronald Reagan – “Are you better off than you were four years ago?” – Romney sought to appeal to average Americans.

“Is it easier to make ends meet? Is it easier to sell your home or buy a new one?” he plans to ask. “Have you saved what you needed for retirement? Are you making more in your job? Do you have a better chance to get a better job? Do you pay less at the pump?”

“It’s still about the economy,” Romney adds bluntly, taking a line from Bill Clinton’s campaign in 1992. “And we’re not stupid.”

I'm getting shivers down my spine. It feels as if he visited this board and spoke to us. Please, please reproduce all his speeches here from now on.

Don't leave out a word, now.

“It's still great for me, fools” Romney adds bluntly. “I'm not stupid, and I'm plenty greedy.”

Blaming Obama for 3 and 1/2 years of blatantly open obstructionism from the Republicans ain't gonna get him elected.

Ridiculed maybe, but never elected.

So far, it's the only really good speech I think Romney has made. I think he's on point with the message that can defeat Obama in the fall election. That's why I posted it.

I don't think anyone would or could defend Obama as a very poor President. Not even Mixim, er, Maris. The divisiveness, non stop promotion of class warfare, unrepairable damage to the economy (and the people who will suffer from it for the rest of their lives...), the lies... Undeniably one of the ten worst Presidents ever.

BUT, Romney just doesn't connect with people the way Obama does. Also, to his credit, Obama may be the toughest and shrewdest political campaigners we have ever seen. He is also an incredibly eloquent speaker. Add to that, in a really really close state he can muster up several thousand illegal votes from unions to tip the scales his way. Besides, he's an incumbent.

I think he has a 95% chance of being reelected.

Well said. I totally agree! :ghoti:

We live in a country where "we" elected Dubya twice, and got duped by Obama.

Those two things alone prove that anything is truly possible, when left in the hands of the American people.

Romney can't get someone to be his VP, how is he going to get anyone but dyed wool GOPers to vote for him?

Edit: oh wait, answer below.

Give me less of a public figure and a better leader, please! About 8 months after his election, they were talking about how he'd made more public appearances and interviews in his first half-year on the job than the previous like 15 presidents had in their entire time spent in office, combined. Focus less on public appearances, and more on fixing the country! Not saying I like Romney, just saying Obama has been worthless.
