Cool. My son started off at PCU his first 2 years of playing (u12 and u13) then went over to FC Portland as they were pretty much just starting up the younger age level teams. When he made the switch he also played u13 over again as he was playing up at PCU. He graduated from high school in 2002 so he might be around the same age as you. I was similar as you in basketball but it was baseball as soccer wasn't a competitive sports back when I was playing. I loved basketball and it was my first choice, but a 6' basketball player isn't in high demand so I concentrated on baseball and it worked out pretty good for me.
PCU!!!??? BOOOOOOOO!

lol, back then there weren't many options and we had a friend that was at PCU so that's where we started. FC Portland then started adding the younger age levels so we made the switch My daughter actually started at Portland Metro when she was u10. It was a girls only club up to u14 and then most would go on to play at FC.

We all do this, don't we?
I've been taking trips to Cali this year and am shocked at how prevalent the weed smell is. Didn't really have an opinion on its legalization, but DAMN, that shit stinks up everything. SF especially was horrible. I left PDX a while ago-- is it that bad there too?

Living in SF, I can tell you the city smells like two things: weed or piss. Sometimes both.

Everybody in Switzerland praised SF before I went there. After 6 days there I have absolutely no idea why. Hated this city. But really.

LOL. No. Portland is just as clean as you left it.

San Francisco is the most overrated piece of smelly shit city in America, these are facts.

It has it's perks. The jobs pay well (at least for me), even after cost of living. The weather is great year round. There's ample stuff to do.

But it's dirty as hell, and the homeless are rampant and even aggressive.

I don’t like California, so I can’t say positive things lol

I have lived in San Fran, Portland, Seattle, NYC, SoCal, Philly and Dallas. Only one of those cities I absolutely would not go back to. I even had a potential VP position at a large company there. Between the homeless problems, the smell, the commute, the cost of living, etc. it is the only city on my "never" list.
