The battle will require 3 verses from each competitor or it will last 48 hours (whichever happens first). Verses will have a maximum length of roughly 24 lines. At the end of the battle, the 4 judges and a popular vote will determine who advances into the 2nd round. Good Luck.

This first match was just the preliminary// so unfortunately when things pick up you’ll be stationary

I got AF in this battle. Gameface, you just didn't hit hard enough. Fresh came with some nice punches and world play, but GF, you really shyed away from that.

<u>Comments:</u> This was a nice opening battle, and to be honest, it was tough to pick a winner from, both of you displayed talent in different fields.

Fresh, I thought your flow was quite good, there were a couple of instances where you had words that didnt rhyme or flow together very well, but overall I was impressed. I also liked your creativity, your choice of words was nice to see, you switched it up a bit and didnt just try to use the same old regular stuff, although I thought you were lacking a bit in your play on words, you had a couple of creative lines, but overall nothing that really "blew me away. Your punchlines wernt hard enough either, you threw alot of swings, but I thought only a handful of them really connected, so thats somthing you need to work on.

GameFace, I liked your play on words, you wernt really that creative with it, although in most cases it led to harder punches than the ones Fresh threw, and there were a couple of lines in there that had me like "Oohh!!". I thought you came at Fresh hard with your punches (for what the tournament / forum allows), but your flow was attrocious, it was really all over the place, I got the idea of what you were trying to achieve, although it was far too hard to keep up with, and it sort of killed it for me, as I couldnt really feel the full effect of your other efforts.

When I read verses, I tend to read them aloud, and that was where I thought the difference was glaring. Gameface's line length was all over the place, and there were plenty of times when the flow was just off because the succeeding line was that much longer than the preceding one. It's nice to see Air Fresh change up his style a bit and gotten into more complex rhymes, but that won't be the stuff that gets you winning the finals. Obviously it'll improve with time and you might just have it good enough to win the finals by the time it rolls around. What you had was definitely enough to beat GameFace though.

My vote goes to Air Fresh.
 
So Air Fresh wins then I guess, 3-0 so far and there are 5 votes, so theres no way Face can win.

Anyways, my vote goes to <u>Air Fresh</u> as well. GameFace had some nice wordplay and some sick punchlines, but so did Air Fresh. The deciding factor for me was the flow. Air Fresh had consistent flow while GameFace's was kind of random.
 
Well it cant be since theres only 5 votes, so it has to be first to 3. Four judges and a popular vote, three judges have voted, three voted for Air Fresh, so theres only another possible 2 votes left, and even if they both go to GameFace, he still wont have enough to win.
 
Only two judges have voted thus far though, you NTC and Locke. If another judge votes for me then I'll win.
 
Yeah my bad, I just realised MrJ wasnt a judge, but still, I think its too much of a hassle with the popular vote, I say we just have the 4 judges vote, and in the case of a draw, bring in the popular vote as a tiebreaker.
 
Yea I kind of agree with that. Or at least have the voting after the judges have put in their votes.
 
Yeah, but after that its kind of pointless, if 44Thrilla isnt a judge, then theres just the 3 of us (me, Locke, authentiq) so theres a definate winner in there.

Judges should just vote, and people can discuss or leave their opinions about the battle in the Battle Discussion thread. That way we're not running all over the place counting votes and/or waiting for enough people to vote for the popular vote to count.
 
Fair enough. Right the judges' count is 2-0 in AF's favour.

Alright, well I agree with Locke. Gameface had some good material, but it wasn't really organized well within his lines. Since the judges are reading this instead of hearing it, you have to stay more consistent with the lengths of the lines so that they flow better. Also, I think some of your lines were borderline corny. Overall though, I would put GF in the 'above-average' category, in terms of what I've seen in the battles on here.

I think the thing that put Fresh over the top was consistency. I didn't view any of his attacks as extraordinary, but I also didn't think he had any weak digs mixed up among his verses. All of his attacks and rebuttals were good, and his lines had a nice flow thoughout 95% of it. Only 2 or 3 of his rhymes seemed awkward, and there were only a few things that I didn't think rhymed that well. Overall, it was another solid battle for Fresh. And just in case I didn't make it clear enough, my vote goes to him.
 
No, but I'd be interested to here what you have to say about the battle.
 
Ok. This one goes to Air Fresh.

I kinda thought the flow was lacking in some parts of the 'style. You coulda got in a multi or two in a few of the lines to better the keystyle, but it was still good overall. I suggest you also try to avoid making liners that really have no affliction to the opponent, and that you throw in some more punches.

Personally, i thought GameFace was more creative in his wordplay and really threw that RJ line, however Gameface was a little inconsistent with his rhymes and if he had some more wordplay in the rhyme, he probably coulda taken this one. Close, but i still gotta go with Air Fresh.
