Roy 2nd Team All-NBA

Can we just retire Roy's number now and it get it over with? He can still wear it for the rest of his career, but when he leaves/retires no one else gets to be the magnificent 7.

I'll agree to that.. we have seen the last person wear # 7 in a Blazer uniform.

First ALL-NBA performer since Clyde in 1992..WOW!

Man that's a long time. 15 players are All NBA every year, over the course of 16 seasons--that's 240 slots that a Blazer hasn't filled.

So 1 time in 255 total opportunities. Pretty depressing ratio.

Anyway, glad that's in the past. A few years from now we could have two or three guys on that list.

Congrats to Brandon Roy!

good grief it was a joke about Travis getting All-D votes... I even included a smiley with his tongue out for the humor impaired.

Whats more odd... making a topical joke or offering congratulations to someone who won't read it?

At least "congratulating" Roy is in the context of the thread, and I'm guessing 100% of those posting know HE won't read it, but that people involved with the Blazer organization will read it.

On the other hand, I suppose being a smartass in every thread would be an effective way to express myself, so I may consider that approach as well. ;)

Classic! I always wonder what the point of threads like this is... Does it make people feel better about themselves to have posted an anonymous congratulations? Like the recipient is going to know, let alone give a damn...

Does it make you feel better about yourself criticizing people for expressing their happiness at Roy's selection to the All-NBA 2nd team?

Year 1: Rookie Of The Year
Year 2: All-Star
Year 3: All-NBA, Second Team
...
Year 4: All-NBA, First Team
Year 5: MVP

It's just pattern completion. Almost like a mathematical proof.

1st team would be pretty hard next year imo...he got zero votes this season. Maybe in 2-3 years. If we're competing for the best record in the NBA I think he's got a good shot at getting top 3 in votes for MVP.

Simple rule of thumb: the really great players would trade individual honors for a championship ring. Roy is a classy, hard-working guy, so it is nice that he is getting recognition. I doubt that Roy himself sees it as more than a consolation prize.

I think he could beat out Wade if we are fighting for 60 wins and the Heat are average again.

so kind words were offered to Brandon from an anonymous poster on an obscure website so that people in the Blazer organization might read it and what??? feel something that they didn't already feel seeing him honored? Yeah, nothing at all odd about that.

topical = context of the thread. And as I already had to point out to you, this was a topical joke as Travis had somehow received an All-NBA D vote. Sorry that you didn't get the joke the first time, but the smiley with it's tongue out should have tipped you off. Keep an eye out for that sort of stuff.

hopefully you lighten up you dolt ;)

What? Nobody thinks the 3rd team is the best????:devilwink:

CRAZY TALK I TELL YA!:tsktsk:

Not loving Brandon Roy is downright Unamerican. Congrats to our main man!

I'd imagine he's pleased that his outstanding season was recognized and has hopes that the award will translate into some calls next year in the playoffs. From officiating to teammates, much of whats necessary for an individual to win a championship is outside of their control.

Love B-Roy's game! He's the most fun to watch Blazer I've seen since The Glide.

And inhuman! I bet the Spaniards also love Roy, although not as much as Sergio & Rudy.

Ouch. Roy was the only player on the second team not to get a single first place vote.

Still, a great accomplishment--and the best is yet to come!

He shouldn't have received a first place vote over Bryant, Wade, or Paul. If he had received one over any of them, I would have questioned the person who cast that vote.

Someone ought to forward this to that douche Utah Jazz blogger who said:

"But Brandon Roy is no Deron Williams."

Haven't you learned anything? Deron is Deron. End of story.
