Re: Roy Absent during National Anthem

This would be a great Abbott and Costello routine . . .

Roy: "I love my people."

Shooter: "You SHOULD love your people."

Roy: "What the heck? How dare you say that?"

Shooter: "Say what?"

Brandon Roy: "your people."

Shooter: "YOU said they were 'your people."

Roy: "Yes, I did, but you can't say they are my people."

Shooter: "But they ARE your people. You just said so."

Roy: "I know I did, but that was me. You aren't allowed to say it."

Shooter: "Why not?"

Roy: "Because Minstrel said so."

Shooter: "Who's Minstrel?"

Roy: "He's one of your people."

Shooter: "'What the heck? He's not one of my people!"

Roy: "Well, he sure isn't one of mine."

:biglaugh::lol::biglaugh::lol:

I don't like most of the crap you post, but that was outstanding!

Re: Roy Absent during National Anthem

I said that telling someone else who "their people" are is different (and, in your case, seems pretty racist). You aren't "agreeing" with Roy saying that black people are "his people," since he never said any such thing. You're telling him that black people are "his people." I know you can see the difference . . .
Do you ever even listen to yourself?

If black people have self-identified other black people as "their people," which they obviously have, then how in the world is it racist for me to do so??

While I think this is funny/amusing; I don't think it exactly fits the scenario. Regardless, I think the issue has gone on long enough, and I'm going to drop it. Like I said before, Roy has some milk in his chocolate, so "his people" are probably your people as well.

Shooter is Brandon's uncle?

Re: Roy Absent during National Anthem

Your world view is fascinating. Some black people have said that so, in your view, all black people feel that way. Prejudice just runs completely through you. It's amusing.

then how in the world is it racist for me to do so??

I explained that. Since I don't feel like re-writing what I've already said, let me repost it for you:

A person is allowed to decide who "his/her people" are, if they so choose. You telling someone else who "their people" are is arrogant and, considering the history of the racial divide, insulting when you aim at a minority. It implicitly says that you consider that minority to be a separate people. While one might say it's questionable for members of a minority group to set themselves apart (though, I think it's pretty natural and understandable when they've been embattled for many years), it's definitely inappropriate for a member of the majority group to do it, especially when that majority group has a history of discrimination/oppression.

You should write to canzano and tell him we are smashing him in this forum. I think he'd enjoy it.

He'd love it. People reading what he says and talking about it is his life blood. Canzano is probably the most successful columnist in Oregon, to judge from how many angry threads are created about him.

Stern, Cowherd and Rush all get paid for their hatred. More people listen to them because they want to argue or get pissed at what they have to say.

What a strange world you live in. According to you, I guess the Chinese people really aren't Chinese--they're caucasian! And the polynesians aren't really polynesian--they're greek!

Nobody has "a people." We're all just whatever we think we are, and ethnicity is just a figment of our imagination.

Yeah, that's the ticket!

If a handful of all 'black people' have self-identified other 'black people' as "their people" you think you are justified in ascribing that phrase to the entire population? If one black person says they like chicken, then of course 'they' all must like chicken? Ok.

Not sure how that relates. No one is saying that "Roy's people" (your words) are Greeks or Finnish. Not sure how what you said actually makes any sense towards what your point is.

Are you just saying random things for post-count?

Re: Roy Absent during National Anthem

It's a strange thing about freedom. If you really support it, you should not put limits on it, should you?
I notice that you didn't answer the question . . .
