You’ve said you’d like to bring Roy back to the team in some role? Have you talked about that in detail?
“We’ve talked with Brandon and his representatives about he’ll always be a Trail Blazer. If there’s any role that he wanted to take on moving forward, we would love to have him in any capacity. Whether it’s a coach, or a scout, or acting GM (laughter), or whatever, there’s always going to be a place for Brandon in this organization. I think Brandon is very appreciative of that. And at some point he’ll probably consider and look into all of his options and what he wants to do now that he’s done playing. We just want to make sure that he knows he always has a home with us.”

It's nice to see Brass extending an invitation for working in Blazers in some capacity.

hell yeah, id like to see him on the bench in a year or two

I think coaching would be perfect for Roy, starting as an assistant and learning the ropes. If Nate's still around in a year or two, I can easily see him wanting Brandon on his staff.

Not everyone can coach. Magic Johnson proved that. Without knowing Roy personally, I'm not sure which job would fit him the best. Maybe HCP can get in on this one. Would he be better as a coach, front office, or on air?

I just don't think he has the voice to be on the air.

Magic never learned how to be a coach. He just started coaching. Roy is young enough that he can learn the ropes and pay some dues, and then if he likes it, try to be a head coach some day.

But I think coaching, at least head coaching, requires a certain type of personality. Does Roy have that kind of personality? Or were you talking about coaching in general?

He has a better voice than Reggie Miller. I was a huge Reggie fan when I was kid, but that guy has one of the whiniest voices in television.

OMG, forgot that dude was a color announcer. Okay I'm wrong...

He's a quiet leader type. Kinda' shy. Not sure he would like to be in the middle of everything.

Now now, let's not get ahead of ourselves here. I believe the invitation was assistant coach. It's not like this team is firing Nate (We aren't that lucky) <---- Kidding kidding! But maybe an assistant that works with guards on ball handling, creating shots, how to get shots off in the paint, using the off hand... Things like that.

On a serious note, why hasn't Buchanan had his "acting" moniker removed yet?

Because they made it very clear early on that he's not a candidate for the permanent position. They want to bring in an experienced GM (read: retread).

Unfortunately, they can't seem to find anyone who actually wants the job...

Kitzhaber is a great retread! They should bring him in :)

They never did use the term "colored".... the term was "color commentator".

My wife got totally offended by that same mistake.

Wife: "I know who Wheels is, but who's the other guy?"
Me: "That's Antonio Harvey, the color commentator."
Wife: "What did you just call him?!"

I would love to see Roy teach Matthews his step back shot

I would pay him any amount of money to teach it to as many Blazers as could learn it. I don't think Matthews has the lateral dexterity for it. Williams on the other hand...

Roy the coach doesn't seem like a natural fit (given what little I know of his personality). Maybe he takes Kevin Duckworth's "ambassador" role?

I would love to see Brandon back with the organization in some way. GM might be a big step though
