People have been hinting they are BFF's( Best Friends Forever), but now I am starting to believe it. I really believe Roy wants Outlaw to have a major part in our upcoming future. Here are some stuff he said last night:
It got to the point where in Game 6, Roy on the court had several one-on-ones with Outlaw. At one point he felt Outlaw was forcing shots, so he told him to look for his outlet passes. When that seemed to mess Outlaw up, he told him to just shoot it when he got it.
"I think maybe I had him thinking too much,'' Roy said later.
Roy said more than anyone, Outlaw probably benefited from the playoff experience.
"I thought about it - I was able to play in the NCAA Tournament and I don't think Travis played in very many meaningful games like that,'' Roy said. "I mean, I don't know what the competition was like in Starksville (Miss.), but even in my high school state tournaments, those were big deals. I can remember missing free throws in the semifinals and not winning. So going to the playoffs for me wasn't that big of an adjustment.
"Travis went from three years of not playing, three years of being in the fold, but he had never played in a meaningful game, like a playoff, and I just think he had never been there with the intensity level and everything else. But I think he is that kind of player. He will be better in the playoffs, he just needed this experience.''
