Gonna start lighting it up in the playoffs. You heard it here first!

Re: Rpy played possum during the regular season

You makin' shit up or do you have a sauce for this?

wtf do you think? Really, no offense, but I don't think Roy is smartest enough or committed enough to play possum the whole season.

Re: Rpy played possum during the regular season

I think there is definately a possibility that he's been taking it easy, waiting for the playoffs to give it his all. I dont mind this AT ALL and i wouldnt be surprised if it has been discussed behind blazer doors that brandon plays at 3/4 speed during the regular season and makes sure he is healthy and then gives it his all in the playoffs. I like this idea with the depth of matthews and fernandez at shooting guard, and Roys knees the way they are. This could make him a threat for us for the whole 5 years of his contract.

Re: Rpy played possum during the regular season

I hope we don't dramatically change the way we've been playing tomorrow night just because Roy may be "back."

Re: Rpy played possum during the regular season

I don't think we will King. And no I don't have the sauce about it. I just have a feeling that is the case.

Re: Rpy played possum during the regular season

I think Brandon will be a valuable weapon in this series. Posting up Terry, Bebouis or Barea.

Re: Rpy played possum during the regular season

I'm looking forward to Brandon having a good series off the bench. But the idea that he's been "playing possum" is one of the silliest things I've ever read. :)

I'll go along with Brandon is peaking and finding his groove at the right time. I certainly hope that is the case. Like HCP said, Brandon should be able to post those guys up.

Re: Rpy played possum during the regular season

Brandon wasn't playing possum. What we saw was that he doesn't trust his body enough to commit to moves around the basket. We watched him short arm or rush a bunch of shots since he came back that he used to finish at an automatic rate (he was so smooth elevating with the left hand). But the most common thing we saw when Brandon got a step on somebody was before he would commit to the drive, he would dish it back out to somebody else on the perimeter. There were plenty of nights where he got that first step and had the defender riding his hip, but he just doesn't trust his body enough to commit to the move. Now, is it possible that because we've gotten to the playoffs that he decides to start attacking with wreckless abandon? Could be. Maybe he doesn't know how many more shots at the post season he'll get, and even if his knees start to ache, he's got all offseason (and maybe then some depending on the Lockout Situation) to rest. I can actually see that happening. But there is no way that this has been some contrived plan all along on Brandon's part to save himself for the playoffs. Honestly, he's too proud to accept averaging 6 points/game (which he did in the final month) if he felt like he had another gear to rev up to.

Re: Rpy played possum during the regular season

Wes with those two quick fouls never got in the groove of the game. It messed with Nate's rotation and Roy played too much.

That shouldn't happen in Game 2.

Re: Rpy played possum during the regular season

Roy couldn't stay in front of Peja. He also couldn't do anything against Peja.

Re: Rpy played possum during the regular season

Having watched Roy play in game 1, I am moved to ask: what are the rules about medical retirement? If a player is forced into medical retirement, do they get paid their contract, it just doesn't count against their team's cap, or is it the case that they lose their money? (Is it different from regular retirement?)

I suppose I should know, given the whole Darius Miles thing. And probably if Roy did medically retire, Chris Wallace would sign him to a 10-day contract...

Wesley got hosed last night. 19 minutes and 3 shots? Nate obviously thought (hoped?) that the playoffs would bring out a better version of Brandon, and it didn't happen. So our second leading scorer and the best 3 point shooter we have (that can help spread the floor when they pack it in on LA) was on the bench all night. Nate won't make that mistake again. Brandon won't play 26 minutes in this series UNLESS he has one of those games like he did against the Mavs on March 15th, but I wouldn't bet on that. Everything about watching him play last night was ugly, plus he had the worst +/- (-10) of anyone. It may have cost us Game 1.

Re: Rpy played possum during the regular season

Y'all didn't understand Mags' original post - he didn't explicitly say Roy was going to start lighting it up in Game 1! He implied that it was going to happened sometime in the playoffs, but just not sure well. So Nate will stick with the plan and keep going to him until he does give us something.

IMO, Roy's still playing possum and giving the Mavs a head start to make the series a little more exciting. It'd be really boring if we would've swept them while our 2nd rd opponent grits out a tough 7 game nail-biter of a series against the Hornets. That would give us an unfair advantage in the 2nd round too. Roy's just trying to create more parity in the NBA otherwise we'd go 16-0 through the playoffs. Then all the other fans around the country/world would cry foul and claim that the NBA is rigged and that we were pre-destined to win. We can't have that. So relax, we've got this all under control; it's all part of the master plan. And it's simply BRILLIANT!

Regardless maxie Roy should not have been playing that much in the 4th and especially in the last 4-5 minutes of the game - a very bad decisiom by Nate. Put Wes in as he has deserved it with his play THIS year and his D at least, or play a lineup of Miller-Camby-Batum-Wallace-LMA

I refuse to believe this poster is serious

Re: Rpy played possum during the regular season

This thread is simply ridiculous, Roy is and has played badly except for a couple of games, he hurts us more than he helps us. This team has played fine without him, he's likely done, I'd rather give other players the opportunity to win or lose this series other than Roy as opposed to the forlorn fantasy of Roy playing "possum" and all of a sudden reverting to his old self.
