So HCP im calling on you here. You must have some inside sources you can ask. WHats the thinking here? Bone bruise? Torn MCL? Torn ACL? What is the word going around?
He has no pain tolerance so it could be something really little for all we know.

No need for sarcasm BC, I'm actually pretty interested to know what's going on.
After the game, he said he could touch the exact area and still feel pain.
Roy injured his knee in the first quarter of Sunday's game at the Lakers while playing defense against Ron Artest. Roy said he tried to front Artest, and in the process of trying to establish position, Artest stepped on Roy's right foot. At the same time, Roy's momentum kept him going right, and with his foot planted by Artest's foot, his knee felt what Roy called a "sharp" pain.
Roy continued to play, but on his next shot attempt he said the knee felt like it was "buckling," so he asked to be taken out of the game. When he returned in the second quarter, there were more troubling signs.
"The second time I went in, I just couldn't make any moves on it,'' Roy said. "It didn't feel right. It didn't feel right at all.''
Roy will be examined by team doctor Don Roberts, during which an MRI will be performed. Team athletic trainer Jay Jensen said it is doubtful the team will be able to review the MRI results this evening.

Seeing the injury in slow motion I think, worst case scenario, it could be a meniscus injury.
"buckling"
It's so hard to know ... I've had three surgeries (torn ACL, torn meniscus and torn MCL with broken epiphysi)s on the same knee and the severity of the accident/incident has almost never correlated with the severity of the injury.
Damn. Sorry you went through all that. Did you need it from playing basketball?
how bad would a torn meniscus be?

So I take it that if it's any tear worse than a sprain, that's the effective end of Roy's season (barring some miracle deep run into the playoffs without him, lasting longer than 2-3 weeks)?
