It's been amputated.

Re: Roy thread... Latest news...

No need for sarcasm BC, I'm actually pretty interested to know what's going on.

Re: Roy thread... Latest news...

Roy is on a plane to Cancun. He's quit on the team. :ohno:

Re: Roy thread... Latest news...

He has no pain tolerance so it could be something really little for all we know.

I'm interested too, but of course Mixum's going for worst case scenarios right off the bat. I just wanted to respond in kind.

Re: Roy thread... Latest news...

Fucking shit! It just wouldn't seem right without another injury before the season ended.

Re: Roy thread... Latest news...

After the game, he said he could touch the exact area and still feel pain.

Agh, that does not sound good.

FUUUUUUDGE

ROY SCHEDULED FOR MRI

Roy injured his knee in the first quarter of Sunday's game at the Lakers while playing defense against Ron Artest. Roy said he tried to front Artest, and in the process of trying to establish position, Artest stepped on Roy's right foot. At the same time, Roy's momentum kept him going right, and with his foot planted by Artest's foot, his knee felt what Roy called a "sharp" pain.

Roy continued to play, but on his next shot attempt he said the knee felt like it was "buckling," so he asked to be taken out of the game. When he returned in the second quarter, there were more troubling signs.

"The second time I went in, I just couldn't make any moves on it,'' Roy said. "It didn't feel right. It didn't feel right at all.''

Roy will be examined by team doctor Don Roberts, during which an MRI will be performed. Team athletic trainer Jay Jensen said it is doubtful the team will be able to review the MRI results this evening.

Roy's injury looks pretty bad

Re: Roy thread... Latest news...

Seeing the injury in slow motion I think, worst case scenario, it could be a meniscus injury.

To me it sounds a like problem with his fibular collateral ligament.

It's so hard to know ... I've had three surgeries (torn ACL, torn meniscus and torn MCL with broken epiphysi)s on the same knee and the severity of the accident/incident has almost never correlated with the severity of the injury.

Damn. Sorry you went through all that. Did you need it from playing basketball?

The sideways bump on the knee like that can be a tough one. Hope he is well.

Re: Roy thread... Latest news...

I hope he's fine, definitely scary that he thought it was unstable or locking.

Locking and holding that ourside knee spot - when I tore my meniscus, that is where it hurt and how it felt.

Roy has had two meniscus tears on his right knee already. Once in his junior year @ UW, and in preseason last year (08). Although he has returned from the previous two injuries fairly quickly, I'd be worried about his long term effectiveness with a third surgery on that same knee. He took about two-three weeks last time.

After watching the video I feel like Brandon is very worried, and thus so am I.

Sweet Jeebuz. Didn't one of you promise to take care of our bad juju with some kind of exorcism earlier this season?

So I take it that if it's any tear worse than a sprain, that's the effective end of Roy's season (barring some miracle deep run into the playoffs without him, lasting longer than 2-3 weeks)?

I want to repeat this guy's post. I can't believe a Blazer fan would post this bullshit.

Yes, it would mean arthroscopic surgery in all likelihood.
