I think a healthy Golden State may be a better team than Portland, outside of OKC. I also think a healthy Portland is a better team than San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Clippers, Wolves, Grizzlies, Nuggets, Suns.

The two teams that worry me the most as a Blazer fan in a 7-game series are OKC and Golden State.

Why should that matter? BrianfromWA only posts when the Blazers are struggling, for the most part, or if LMA has a tough game.

We played like absolute dog shit last night and still almost came back on them. They have no bench at all to speak of. We are the better team, imo.

I disagree, or at least think it's 50/50. It's not like the Blazers have had a lot of success with Golden State in recent years.

I said in a thread I made the other day that the 3 teams Portland doesn't want to face in the 1st round are OKC, GS and HOU.

Then looking ahead at who the Blazers will probably play in the 1st round (OKC, GS, HOU, LAC), I want the Blazers to play the LAC out of those 4.

It's not really fair to judge us on games where we're playing on their floor on the second of a back to back. I actually think both games this year have been on the second of a back to back. We got the first one because they fired up LA, but this time we just looked completely flat. I still think we're better.

Really? I can't remember the last time he wasn't on an anti-LMA roll outside of a game thread that was spread across multiple threads. I know, I know. "HE'S JUST PROVIDING ANOTHER VIEWPOINT!!!!" Whatever, though. It doesn't bother me, and that stuff can be self-moderated by respected board members and long-time members of the community.

Great. The Blazers may be better than the Warriors. I have my doubts, based mostly on the lack of perimeter defense from the PGs.

To be fair, I see RoyToy posting about almost anything outside of his hatred for Batum these days. He rarely even posts about Batum anymore. Maybe he got the message, and he was punished in another way since he's on the "shit list" with me and a few others?

I made the case that the GSW can match Portland on the offensive side of the floor, while also being 5th in defensive rating. We know the Blazers are not a good defensive team.

I think they're better than the Blazers. Not by some huge margin, but I do think they win a bo7.

You seem to say it is the same posters be suspended, but it's not. I have seen 3 long time posters suspended in the last 90 days. I don't remember it being like this years ago, but the board was the same if not more volitile in years past than now.

But whatever, I was just making an observation that the suspension tool is being used more liberally these days. Just like with shifts in NBA rules, posters will simply have to adjust (or mods stop calling it so tight :) )

Like I said, we're trying new ways to make this forum better for the majority of people here. Banning is and always should be the very last resort. Suspension is a different tool. So far it's not proving to be a good one. Of the two people suspended I have Mediocre Man refusing to post in the forum ever again but instead PM'ing me multiple times a day and pointing out what a horrible mod I am. Then I have RoyToy making accusations of mod abuse and how oppressed he is by being suspended. Neither of them will take ownership of their behavior but instead only point out how bad everyone else is. So to be perfectly honest suspension as a tool to correct behavior is not working.

That leads us back to permanent banning. That actually does seem to work. PapaG was banned but after some time passed and we talked privately the problems that lead to his banning have not reoccurred so he was un-banned.

There's nothing to say about Batum these days tbh.

He does a good job behind Lillard/Aldridge/Matthews and the team isn't relying on him to win games like they do with Lillard and Aldridge. That was really my whole point when it came to Batum (that he's not a "big 3" type of player).

I view him as Tayshaun Prince.

PapaG has been suspended before. I don't think Roytoy has or Mediocre Man.

Who is the other long time poster who was suspended? Roytoy, MM, and who? Pretty sure PapaG was banned back during the summer.

You'll have to talk to Sly about the suspensions. I suspended Roytoy, but I'm not really a suspension guy. I only did it because Sly threatened him and he didn't seem to listen. I prefer to give someone enough rope to let them hang themselves and then get rid of them permanently..... until they make a new account and keep posting.
 
I don't understand the whole whodunnit act. Dude has always been a troll. He's never had a constructive conversation on the board, he's all about the smarmy one-liners. Now that he's playing the victim card it makes it even more gross.

Batum sux! Paul George roolz! That act grew old so now its baiting people about T-Rob.

Its not ironic that he's more active in his baiting when we lose.
 
So, if a poster on the Duck forum can be warned for calling another poster named STOMP as "STUMP," does that mean that a moderator can warned for calling a poster named PapaG as "PapaGizzle?"

I think that the Stump and PapaGizzle thing is hilarious, though. It's not like my real name is PapaG, or Stomp's is 'STOMP.'

It would be really easy to call you a troll, though. Your shtick seems to be watching posters get suspended, and then showing up in those threads to berate them when they are banned or suspended. Seems a bit like Little Man's Syndrome v. 5.0.

Go back and read the Duck forum again, I actually missed the "Stump" insult and I admitted that I did. My thread about personal insults in that forum was directed at more than one person.

Targus is a hot mess. Zero redeeming qualities as a poster, so far as I can tell, other than he now admits to copypasta as his M.O.

I still thought the "STUMP" line was hilarious, though. I think I've probably posted that a few times over the years, though. PapaGizzle ... I don't get that insult, but it brings a smile to my face for some reason. I prefer PapaGee, though, because that implies a 'gee whiz' ingnorance to the name.

As would you though. Constantly berating mods who have a thankless job. We could easily have a message board with tons of trolls running around and suddenly we would start losing good posters and the board would cease up. I've seen it plenty of times with other boards I frequent.

Its not hard to identify a troll on a message board. Zero constructive conversation and constant grating of other members.

For as annoying as you've been over the years, I've never once called you a troll. Other things, but a troll no.

OKC is going to get HCA... and we have a good chance at it too... we wouldn't meet in the first round. The rest of those, though, I understand.

It's not a job. It's a volunteer position. Some do it very well. Others don't have the temperament for it. SlyPokerDog is the best mod on this site since Minstrel. It can't be easy for him, but he has the perfect board personality for it. Others? Well, can you imagine you or me as mods? I can't. I think it would be much the same as it is now with a highly emotional poster who is given a lot of leeway as a mod.
