that's cool, but i misinterpreted the topic such that "batum is playing against rudy"

France is breaking this game open already.

Nic with the D. Tony Parker with the O.

Holy CRAP!!! Nic!

Cross over and two hand slam!

Edit:

First quarter over. France leads 19-7. Batum has 4pts, 3rebs, and 3steals in 10 minutes of play on 2/3 shooting. Both Belinelli and Bargnani have put up 0s on the box score.

And Nic starts the quarter with another steal and slam!!

It also shows that Nic works well with a point guard. :-)

From looking at the box-score - I see that T-Parker has exactly 1 assist.

Maybe this is the big breakthrough we were hoping for Nic - point guard be damned...

Just saw the Spanish roster. Man, that team is STACKED. They aren't starting Rudy.

This is my dream after Miller winds down. I really think he could do it.

Heh. Iwatas said Batum works well WITH a point guard, not AS a point guard. I actually made the same mistake when I first read the post.

I'd love to see Batum develop real point skills. I find it a bit unlikely, but it would be amazing to have Batum at point guard, with his size.

Cuban team is so badly overmatched. Half the time they are just throwing the ball at the backboard just to get a shot off. This game will be over by the time Rudy gets in.

Is the French game over?

thanks. Batum's having a really, really nice game. Maybe it's just the competition, but he looks a lot better out there than he did in Portland.

Batum's done for the night. What a nice game.

After seeing only about 9 minutes of this game, he's my leading candidate for Most Improved Player going into the season. His defense is steadily improving, and Andre Miller is going to do such a better job of getting him the ball in places where he can finish. Shades of vintage Steve Nash/Shawn Marion.

Man I can't wait for this season to come.

Batum's stats: 18pts, 8rebs, 1ast, 6stls on 8/13 FG, 0/3 on three, and looked like the best player on the floor for a large part of the game (before TP got hot in the second half).

Sick.

Great game for him. What's also interesting is he had 0 fouls and 0 turnovers with those points and steals. Six steals with no fouls is amazing.

Great to see after the shoulder scare earlier this week.

How is Rudy doing?

And by the way, so much for the shoulder being an issue for Nic.

It seems like Nic was laissez faire about having to go back to Portland. Tony had to do it so he was ready for the request by Portland. Hopefully it's a non-issue and he enjoys a few nice sunny days in Portland.

Here's the France/Italy summary on Eurobasket.

France clinched their group so the next game against Finland is meaningless. If Nic misses that game it shouldn't be a big deal to his team, aside from playing together and getting team chemistry.

I am excited about Nic's play, as I had doubts if he was going to bring his offensive game to a higher level than the non existent level of last year. He looks confident, and looks like he may have added some "handle" to his game, as they had him playing guard some.
