thinking this is why we have not made a move for a PG in FA or via trade. No inside info but I have this feeling that there is a "deal" that if Rubio comes over POR and Minny will do a simple Rudy for Flynn swap. POR should be going after a PG with their FA money and they are not - something is "up" and I can think of little else. Given that Rudy plays behind our franchise player Roy who is one yr older - this trade just makes a LOT of sense for both teams, we will see.

Balyess and Webs can backup Roy, Balyless S/B more of a 2nd unit scoring guard anyway IMO. Webs can split time as SG and SF depending upon matchups.

I doubt KP moves Rudy for a rookie but Flynn is a beast. He's looked great so far in Vegas.

Well, I know you're just spitballing, but I have to say I like this deal, and it does make sense for both teams. Rudy is somewhat redundant in Portland because of Roy, and he'd fit in right away at SG for the Wolves, yet would still not make them a contender.

I love it. Flynn was the PG I wanted in this draft. Call it a man-crush if you want, but I think this would be a very good move.

IMO Rudy is not going to be here long term if Roy is, if you can make a trade for your PG of the future with a backup SG I think you have to do it if you can. One other possibility, would anyone trade Rudy straight across for Conley? Mem moves Mayo to PG and Rudy at SG.

In a heartbeat.

And what, exactly, gives you that "feeling"?

Why do y'all find it so hard to believe that KP's real target is Rubio? He is by far the best ball distributor available to us. Roy needs help.

It's probably just gas.

I have no intention of giving Minny one of the best backcourts in the NBA.

Minny fucked up by drafting two PGs before having a deal in place to move one of them. Why do we need to help out a fellow NW division team make up for their mistake? And I'll take a Rudy/Roy backcourt over either of those mentioned.

If Rubio would be interested in playing in Portland with Rudy, I'd much rather go after him. I'd give up Bayless to get him. Bayless would fit better with Flynn than would Rubio (even assuming Minnesota ever gets Rubio to play for them).

If life were so simple....

YES! I love this trade. I think that if Rubio were agreeable to come over (if Rudy was traded to Minny) then this is a no-brainer!

Perhaps this is why KP was focusing upon the Forward positions?

But that would be giving KP a LOT of credit! LOL

Seriously, in a heartbeat!

Love Flynn with ROY as a backcourt - and keep Blake in this scenario.

My "feeling" is that the Blazers are probably going to use Roy/Rudy as a backcourt and that is why they are not looking for a PG.

If this were the case - then Rudy would not have vocalized his concerns about the Turk signing.

So I don't think this is necessarily the case.

I love Rudy! And if we knew with certainty that Webs was coming back - then Rudy would be all the more expendable.

...then again, Webs could be the expendalbe one! (my preference)

IF RUBIO just won't be coming over no matter what - then trade Outlaw and Webs for Flynn.

[my sights are still on G. Wallace]

A couple of weeks ago, I got verbally mauled for saying the Blazers should consider this. I am glad some other folks are starting to see the light.

Trading a back-up SG (who is showing signs of becoming a headcase) for a starting PG is just good sense. If the trade helps both teams - tough shit. Our first priority should be to improve OUR team, not make trades only if they hurt the other team.

Maybe the plan all along was Minny to draft Flynn for us, so they can have Rudy to lure Rubio into coming to Minny.

I would absolutely love a Flynn, Roy back court.

Interesting thought. I love Rudy but the deal makes sense for both teams...

So... why would MN trade their PG because their OTHER PG won't come to the NBA this year? And trade their PG without getting one back?

That makes no sense, dude.

The T-Wolves are keeping Jonny Flynn. You can take that to the bank. They would turn down flat a Rudy-for-Flynn trade. Rubio is their tradeable asset. The question is, when do they trade him? Kahn says he's not going to trade him without getting a look at him in the NBA. But that's risky - if he doesn't look so good, his value tanks. But some team will offer something really nice sooner or later...

(Incidentally, I REALLY don't see the Blazers targeting Rubio as long as we have BOTH Roy and Nate, and possibly as long as we have either. More's the pity.)
