Rudy forcing KP to deal him?

Because this shit is being made up by the Spanish news outlets. It's not a scoop, it's a lie.

He can get the scoop. He just needs a shovel. Like the type of scoop shovel used to clean out barns!:ohno:

You're assuming he takes the qualifying offer, which he might not. The team doesn't have any leverage if he leaves and goes back to Spain in 2.25 years.
I pretty sure you're wrong on how contracts work. It's my understanding that the team can make the QO and retain their guy for another year whether he likes it or not.

Yeah, I believe that's right. The only way the player is free is if the team fails to tender a QO. If the mandated QO is tendered, then the player can either sign it or not (and therefore play or not), but the team owns his basketball rights either way.

With all his bitching about playing time he is going to drive his value down, his contract really isn't going to get you anything worth his talent if he is traded by himself. I'd think that New York would have been a nice place for him, big stage, Sergio........but we would have needed the contracts sent to Los Angeles to make a David Lee work. I think that when he goes we'll package him with some other talent to shorten up the roster even more. Sad really, Rudy couldn't even get you a Mike Conley.

Isn't that what the Hawks did with Childress when he went to Olympiakos?

Trade him for Lee, he can be with his buddy Sergio.

The only thing Rudy is forcing are fade away jumpers.

Exactly. They retain his NBA rights - but since he was not under contract - he could sign in Europe.

This pretty much said it all. The Blazers can make a qualifying offer, but that only pertains to his rights in the NBA. He doesn't have to sign it, and he can play in Europe if he wishes. That's exactly what Josh Childress did. The QO doesn't even prevent the player from signing an offer sheet with another NBA team, it's really only for the purposes of matching said offer if the team so wishes.

Jesus H. Christ. Did I read the same "report" you guys did?

How in the hell does everyone get their panties in a bunch over some bullshit Spanish Canzano making shit up? Unless my glasses are smudged, it looks like Rudy was asked a direct question and gave a generic Jock answer, saying he just wants to play basketball and he doesn't mind where. He indicates he knows he's not playing well and he knows he needs to be more consistent. He says he knows he has to adapt to Nate and to not having Sergio getting him the ball. (And that's assuming the "reporter" didn't completely misquote him.)

Yeah, let's burn the bastard at the stake.

I agree Rudy's not a great fit with Nate. Maybe he gets traded to NY next season. At least their pitiful fans would get some entertainment for their money.

It is real simple. The young guys have to take their lumps, and most of the fans don't have the fortitude for it. Some do.

When I was at the Big Al's party, I noticed that Rudy and LMA appeared to be quite close. Not that means anything, really, but I have a hard to believing all the bull crap coming out of bull country.

Jason Quick said on the post-game basically confirmed everything that was said in that newspaper.

They'll deal with it this summer. Coach Nate said it was inevitable that it would happen on this team.

Shocker. But people here were saying it's bullshit, because it came from a 'furin' paper; Rudy <3 Portland, right?!

I'm the driver of the package-Rudy-to-Memphis-for-Mayo bandwagon.

Yeah, like Mayo would be any happier coming off the bench than Rudy.

Actually, I'm thinking of a future lineup like this:

PG: Mayo
SG: Roy
SF: Batum
PF: Aldridge
C: Oden*

Only problem is Mayo is a straight SG.

It'd be a great lineup to end the game with, but Mayo is going to want 36min a game, and while Roy has PG instincts, he's still a SG as well and only plays the PG role at the end of quarters/games. That'd be a lot of time with no PG in the game to handle the ball and set the team up.

Mo Williams would be perfect but that obviously isn't happening. Think of players like him.

He can defend and shoot. Miller has somewhat meshed with Roy now but it's clearly not comfortable for either to play off the ball. IMO, Mayo is a true combo guard.

Bayless is a straight SG.

Agreed on Miller, and I'm not necessarily a big Bayless as the future PG for the Blazers guy. His ball handling and vision are average at best to be a PG for me, and he's also way too out of control at times. He's improved a lot though so we'll see where he is next year after a summer of workouts. His jumper is also a little weak as well, and the Blazers need a PG that can knock down 3's. I think that's pretty clear by now.

I'd still entertain the idea of Conley believe it or not. He's obviously not a guy that sets the world on fire but he does everything the Blazers need. He's already a step up from Steve Blake and he's only 22. Good ball handler and can knock down the 3(career 39.3% from 3). You also can't deny what Oden playing with him could do.

He's really more of a combo guy (sort of like Jerryd) ... ultimately I guess you are who you can defend and Mayo has enough quickness to cover most 1s.

I do agree that setting up and running the offense could be a real problem when Miller is gone, but I think Mayo has a better shot at being a consistent starter alongside Roy than Jerryd does, mostly because he can hit from outside at a very high clip (currently at 39% from deep).

If not Mayo, then I'd really like to see KP deal with the Hornets for Collison ... and lord knows the Hornets could use a peja replacement, which Rudy would undoubtedly be able to do running off of screens and catching Chris Paul passes.
