Last weekend, European powerhouse Real Madrid won the Spanish Cup, the ACB's mid-season tournament, with a last-second shot by Rockets draftee Sergio Llull in the final vs. arch rival Barcelona. It was the 37th win in 38 games for Real Madrid, who's not just dismantling opponents in a weakened ACB but also in the Euroleague.

The fantastic run may have a downside for Real, though. The strong play of the team's stars has not gone unnoticed in the NBA. With Nikola Mirotic, the tournament MVP, already widely presumed to be leaving for Chicago next season, now comes news of renewed interest in Rudy Fernandez from the States, with Oklahoma City being one of the teams inquiring about his contract situation, according to a source.

Fernandez's deal with Real Madrid calls for him to make slightly above $4 million in 2014-15, when his contract comes to an end, so he'd probably be looking for mid-level exception money to consider an early return to the NBA.

Fernandez averaged 9.1 ppg and 2.2 apg in four years in the league with Portland and Denver.

No fucking way he goes to OKC. He would want a warm environment.

This is exactly it.

Rudy was never the same player after that cheap shot from Ariza. Completely changed him. He also had back problems from that.
If he would have let it heal the first time instead of trying to come back too soon, I think he'd still be here. On the other hand, if he had worked on getting even a little bit bigger and stronger, he probably wouldn't have been hurt so badly in the first place.

he will always have this

One of my least favorite Blazers ever.

And does anyone actually think this was a dirty or even hard foul?

He didn't even hit the ground hard. Blaming a guy sucking on that is just a lame excuse.

It was a reckless foul, and he landed really awkwardly. Players who "suck" don't set rookie 3 point records.

Rudy would have been wonderful in this offense, because so much of it is moving without the ball, getting to the right spot to receive it and then quickly shooting it.

Rudy thrives pretty much anywhere as long as Sergio is the guy feeding him the ball.

American PG's have never played European ball and just don't have that loose let's have fun style of play ingrained in them.

He was good as a rookie shooting nearly 40% from three but by year 3 and 4 was shooting 32% so compared to his hype he sucked.

In addition to his terrible defense.

He played just like Batum does now. Rudy is starter-quality in the NBA.

Serge Ibaka on rumors about Thunder's interest in Rudy Fernandez: "It would be great if we signed him. He's a good player. If we get him, I'm sure he would do great here." EFE

OKC inquiring about Rudy?

The link is in Spanish but wouldn't that be crazy!

Rudy had his chance when Roy went down. Zero heart.

yeah Rudy most def should have been awesome in a no motion, iso offense, that TOTALLY is a strength of his. Just plug and play yo.

He was just fine in that offense as a rookie.

you said he should have taken over when Roy went down. Roy and Rudy's game had no similarities to speak of. My point was it wasnt just plug and play Rudy in Roy's spot, and get the same result

He sneakally shot a high 3 pt %, but would not have been just fine replacing Roy and his league-star game.

When I said Rudy is starter-quality, I was thinking of a non-McMillan, Stotts-like system, not the Roy system.
