It's nothing more than a Sam Smith column.

And he's not saying that all 5 players would be involved in the same deal--he's saying Aldridge/Oden for Howard OR Bynum/Gasol for Howard.

Ohhhhhh. Got it. I like my misinterpretation better and it'd still be possible. But as for the actual rumor, I think I'd do it. Would hate to give up 2 for 1 but Howard is a legit superstar. Gotta take him. Many years ago, therre was a Kersey/Duckworth for Olajuwon rumor and I was totally against the idea because I was so in love with the guys we had. In retrospect, if that deal had been available, we should've taken it.

you guys know as well as i do that oden would definitely average 27 and 15 if he got traded to the magic, while howard would get microfracture surgery.

Every pie-in-the-sky trade proposal deserves it's own thread, as does any thread referencing a trade rumor that is misunderstood by the OP.

This trade will never, ever happen, yet here we are hand-wringing and arguing about it!

Just something to talk about. It's all been good natured.

If you were trading Howard, who would you rather get back: LaMarcus/Oden or Pau/Bynum? Other than the fact Bynum should be serving a term for his third video taped assault conviction (that I know of), I'm thinking they'd take the Flakers deal.

Of course. I'm fine with losing Batum and even Matthews.

Miller/Roy/Crash/Pau/Howard is the most talented starting lineup in the league.

Miller has a year or 2 left, Roy will never be more than a bit player, and Pau is the softest PF in the league.

Trading Aldridge and Oden for only one guy as good as them is a huge downgrade, assuming Oden gets healthy and has a long career.

If he's healthy Oden will be better than Howard all on his own.

If he's never going to play a full season then an Aldridge for Howard trade seems pretty good.

I think Bynum is pretty close to untradeable after his cowardly attack on Barea.

If you're an Orlando fan would you cheer for a Howard for Bynum trade? Don't think so. This guy will be booed in arenas for the rest of his career.
