A good source (in the media, huge Duck fan) told me that its being talked about in the Duck Athletic Dept. that they may force/ask Chip to resign.
 
There would have to be A LOT MORE to this Lyles chit then we've heard so far for that to happen.

If that were to really happen I hope Uncle Phil throws huge money at the guy from Boise St than bring back Bellotti.

Hows Kelly looking so bad right now? They paid $25,000 for a recruiting service. Sounds like a slap on the wrist to me.
 
Not sure who his source is but I've heard the complete opposite from multiple people with first hand information. Keep in mind the Oregon AD is on lockdown right now from a media perspective and they are not talking to anyone on or off the record. Also the amount of bad information going around right now is staggering as nobody can provide with a remotely intelligent answer the actual bylaws that were broken. Bottom line the only way Chip gets fired is if he lied to the NCAA.

He paid $25K to a slimy guy that steered players to Oregon.

Scouting reports and access to Texas. Besides Lyles has said that he feels betrayed by Ducks and has been using this media blitz to defend his reputation, so he had every motivation to say that he steered Lache but didn't.

Scouting reports that other schools paid $5-6K for? Really? It's obvious what the Ducks were paying for.

How about the fact that his grandmother signed his LOI paperwork? His mother didn't want him to go to Oregon. I'm pretty sure this was engineered by Lyles and the UofO coaching staff.
 
how does that prove that he was steered towards Oregon though? Could Lache have wanted to go there, even though his mom didnt want that?

You mean the same mother that was in legal trouble so often he lived most of his high school career with his guardians and grandmother. The same mom who despite not being involved in his life towards the end of Lache's HS career said that she would only let him go to LSU and was effectively holding him hostage. Yeah I can't imagine why a kid would want to find a way out of that predicament.:sigh:

There are always two camps in situations like this. I've been fortunate enough to have a very close friend who is a top donor and insider. My understanding, for every one person that says Chip resigning is an option, there are ten who are supporting and standing behind him.

Consider, it only takes one person (at any level) to mention to a reporter or another something along the lines of, 'it was brought up what would happen if Chip was forced to resign in the event of a guilty finding to major recruiting violations,' and suddenly it's spun into, 'we're discussing forcing Chip to resign.'

Tlong, why are you doing this? What are you getting from this? Everyone here has read the stories and know the facts surround this situation.

Maybe it's just me, but in over 30 years of following college football, I've never taken joy in watching programs have issues like this. I think it's bad for college athletics, bad for kids and takes so much away from the competitive nature of something I love...

But, it appears we need to revisit the facts, again.

Correct me where I am wrong, because I don't claim to know everything here.

1. Lyles was a POOR business man. He didn't even have a price sheet for what his services provided or clearly defined levels and cost. Oregon wanted and asked only for the best and top recruiting package and because Lyles didn't have clearly defined cost/services - Oregon asked him to set his own price. The $25,000 was handled via check through the AD Dept.

--Oregon is guilty of dealing with a crappy business man of poor character.

2. As reported and confirmed by various sources, there is no proof that Oregon asked for, or even expected anything other than recruiting services.

3. Lyles has changed his story three times. He says he crossed the line.

4. Oregon has been open and welcoming to NCAA questions, however, no official investigation has been launched.

5. Lyles joined/escorted the players in question to other institutions.

6. Chip has a clean record while Lyles has a "history" within the recruiting circles. Oregon has had recent sanctions (Campbell) , and has always been forthcoming with the NCAA. Lyles has changed the foundation of his story three times. He has a bad history with previous employers in recruiting. His business failed. This says a lot.

7. Nothing changes the fact that the players and their family members who are involved in this said they were not influenced in their decisions. Ultimately, the NCAA aims to protect players/families with their recruiting guidelines, so tell me, no victim no crime?? If we had a player or family member saying they were pressured, I'd be all over Oregon harder than anyone here. But, we don't.


I've continued to say that Oregon has several issues here. If Lyles is considered a booster (which he very well could be), receiving funds and his involvement is a violation. Oregon may also be guilty of minor violations for having received oral recruiting services that lacked necessary hard docs. Some are saying Oregon was scrambling to cover tracks by later asking Lyles for documentation, but this in itself is not proof of anything, nor is it a violation itself.

I suggest you put down the pitch-fork and torch, look at the facts and wait and see how this all unfolds.

Last thought...

Although I bleed yellow/green, I think I'm able to see the big picture and if everything we know now is accurate and reflective of the full story, I'd be content in Oregon under minor sanctions and even a loss of a few scholies. This may seem severe for the minor violation, but it would be a good example.
 
Good god you're trolling hard. At the end of the day, Oregon will always be better than OSU and that just kills you. Better coach, better players, better stadium, better fans, and better school. Get back to your crops, cows, and sheep.

Exactly what recruiting package are you referring to? There wasn't one. That's the problem. SportsbyBrooks now has audio of Lyles stating that Kelly was directly involved with getting him to scramble together some documents and send them to UofO to justify the $25K expenditure. Of course, you don't believe Lyles since you state he's been lying. However, as Canzano has pointed out all of Lyles stories have checked out to date.
 
I thought it was interestig that Lyles said he though Oregon paid him for a recruiting package... and then he came to believe they were paying him for influence. What changed his mind? Was it money from some Texas schools trying to keep Oregon from recruiting thier players?

sounds like someone was paying his mom to "steer" him to LSU...les miles might be forced to resign!

I'm still curious to Canzano's response to Lyles' story checking out about first saying Documents were asked for in March, but then saying they were asked for in January.

What the hell don't you understand here? Players and families interviewed have said they were NOT influenced. They support Oregon. One person says one thing (story changed) and 20 say another... If this goes to court, how does that hold up?

It's what, 20 vs 1? And, that 1 not only has a questionable history and shady past employment, but has changed his story several times in the last few months.

You claim Oregon didn't receive recruiting information. That's a lie. Oregon receive a 140 player report which mostly involved 2009 players. First, this doesn't make Oregon guilty of ANYTHING. It says Lyles provides crappy services. Second, a large number of those players are at JC and potential recruits.

Dude, give it up. You're embarrassing yourself. You can't change the fact there is NO smoking gun and other schools paid Lyles thousands of dollars for the same service. It just happens Oregon has more money than your mac salad bought program has and is at an elite level which makes for a nice target..............

The Oregonian reports: Matt Hinton does a good job breaking down what this means to Duck fans. While the Ducks very well could have been taken for a ride, there's still no evidence of any NCAA violations.

Nola.com reports: Forking over thousands of dollars to owners of recruiting services isn't yet an NCAA violation. It's a loophole football coaches, and athletic departments, have found a way to use...

A recent poll showed 70% of sports fans think Lyles is a liar. The majority of these people ARE NOT Oregon fans. Congrats on being in the minority of sheepels.

I hope next time you purchase something, say software, a game, etc. and you find its a bit outdated, you aren't accused of unfounded violations.
