WTF are you guys talking about? Gerald Wallace is one of only two good players we have (maybe three if Nic actually pans out.) Trading him is quitting. Trading him is rebuilding.

Good luck with all that cap space they wont use or be able to use. Good luck with the lottery. See you in 5 years when the team is interesting again.

Lakers get better, Portland gets worse. What else is new.

Only a fanbase as beaten down as Portlands could actually be exciting about rebuilding, yet again.

The team was already a dumpster fire ... at least making these moves gives them a chance.

I still say let's take a flier on Beasley - come on, let's deal JC for Beasley!!

It stuns me some people are reacting negatively to this trade. Portland has made the absolute correct decision in this trade. Made sure Wallace cannot lock up cap space next year, somehow acquired a likely 4-10 pick to go along with our own most likely top ten pick in a LOADED DRAFT.

We had three options:

1. Somehow, by miracle, acquire legitimate star player with our limited trade pieces this year, and not waste LaMarcus' prime.

2. Understand this ship, as it is, is going no where. Acquire expiring contracts and picks for average talent, go into loaded draft with flexibility to acquire difference making players. Do not waste LaMarcus' prime.

3. Keep things as is, be 7-8th seed (miracle), or a late lottery pick. Acquire nothing, let Wallace opt in next year and eat 11.5 million cap space - commit to WASTING LaMarcus' prime.

Until two hours ago number three looked like what was going to happen; the worst of all options.

Now they have insured we will have 25ish million cap space next year (before resigning Batum), two most likely top ten draft picks in again a LOADED DRAFT, and we're removing losing mentality players. Nate is likely gone.

This is a great day. Great day.

I found Wallace frustrating to watch. Yeah I loved his hustle, but I don't think he made his
teammates better on offense. I did like his physical play on D though.

I realize this, and don't begrudge anyone for feeling this way.

I still find it pitiful. But here's to empty hope for 2015. Can't wait.

it's a great day to start rooting for the bucks. NJ is 4 1/2 games back of the last playoff spot.

DONE DEAL - now you can change the title:
BlazerFreeman: Just got of the plane. League source confirms #Blazers reported trade w New Jersey: Mehmet Okur, Shawne Williams, 1st-rd pick for Wallace. [via Twitter]

I think this is the right direction to go. And this is a sweet deal. It's hard to believe we got such a good pick for Crash. There is finally a glimmer of hope for this franchise.

Hey just FYI guys, Portland can now trade their first rounder in a deal since they received NJ's.

Depending on the deal something tells me that their likely 11-9th pick is going to be worth holding on to.

i just love we're actually doing something, who knows if its right or wrong, but its something - and thats interesting at least :P

We are very likely to have two top ten picks. I feel happy, and not at all like the picture of me in my avatar.

Holy shit. Source? That is AMAZING!

Two potential top 10 picks? And 20mil of capspace.

I have renewed faith in the front office again if this is true.

GREAT DEAL!

Just hope they don't get one of the top 3 picks! That would suck!

How can you not like this deal? We have the possibility of getting a really good player in the draft and we don't have to pay Wallace for being a bum.

Tom Penn on ESPN was just raving about the Portland side of the deal. Says the draft pick is a great deal for Portland, and that the Nets must have thought very highly of Wallace to give it up.

I love this trade. I honestly don't think there could have been a better outcome for Wallace. Truly sad though that it ended this way. I was so excited to get him last year and he was honestly one of my favorite players on the team until this season. Very sad.

If NJ does get a top3 pick and keeps it, I assume we would get their 2013 pick, if so would there be restrictions next year?

Overall great trade if it's a top10 pick, we gave up two middle of the round picks both lottery picks last year for a possible top10 pick. Wallace was one of my favorite Blazers but with Roy and Oden retiring the timeline has changed and a retool was necessary.

Great deal for Portland. Getting a lotto pick instead of losing Gerald for nothing is just icing on the cake. And we avoid having him opt in next year. Now we just need to hope NJ doesn't land in the top 3.

Or that they click and starting winning like crazy? We need them to stay right about where they are.
