OT Russell Wilson traded

i admittedly no nothing about football, nor do i follow the seahawks. i have no idea what Wilson's impact is on the game or the community.

but Jody trading a longstanding franchise star who is on the verge of a large extension gives me some kinda pause.

Also interesting is that they left the ball in Wilson's court so to speak.

Pretty sure its because of a trade clause he has.

Look at Rodgers, Brady.. Wilson has a lot of time left
Wilson’s not an in the pocket guy like those 2, Rodgers can move a little when he has 2 lanes open. Not much of a precedent for mobile QB’s playing into late 30’s. Not saying Wilson is washed just that he’s starting his decline. Hawks weren’t going to contend for SB the next couple years and probably not for many more. Good time to reset.

Shit.

Are any of the guys they got back good?

I hate the Hawks so I love this trade for that reason. I’m a Raiders fan since birth so I hate this trade for that reason.

Shelby Miller is very good, Fant is more than serviceable, Lock sucks. 2 1s and 2 2s are nice, I’d expect a lot of trade downs to recoup even more picks. That’s the Schneider way.

Seahawks will suck next year, but that's okay. They should NOT spend a #1 on a QB in this draft. Not on Kenny "Tiny Hands" Pickett anyway. I'm not comfortable with this trade, but they did get a nice haul. You have to have an elite QB to compete for the Super Bowl though and there isn't very many of those guys. Russell Wilson is elite.

Disagree. Completely different quarterbacks. First those guys have several inches and can throw over the top when thier speed slowed/slows down. Wilson cant. Ive long said as soon as russell loses that speed, he will no longer be dominant. Thats why all he has left is the curl around long bomb to make big plays. He used to be a dual threat. he no longer is and with his lack of height and increasing inability to get around the corner, I see a fast decline coming.

Disagree. Rodgers is only an inch or two taller than Wilson and Wilson is much more gifted athletically than Rodgers. Wilson throws the best deep ball in the league as well.

I could be wrong. I used to hope im not. Now i hope i am. Lol.

Griffey had a greater HOF-worthy career, but never had playoff success. Walton led the Blazers to a title, but had too short a duration. Russ is the only sports figure whose PNW career can boast both.

If it weren't soccer, Diego Valeri would surpass him, as he's done both and also won a league MVP.

Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe probably deserve consideration, if we're not focusing the answer on just men's sports.

Actually 3” taller

True enough. The term used in the post was "greatest sports figure", which to me involves reach and impact. This is why I was basically focusing on men's big 3. Bird and Valeri would be on the same level to me, looking way up at the others I mentioned.

Wow. Now it's being reported that the Seahawks are releasing Bobby Wagner! :smiley-195517897341

I have 2 pairs of Seahawks socks given to me by my in laws: Wilson and Wagner. Both are becoming obsolete in the same day.

Russ has talent yes but the rumors of being a shitty teammate have followed him since college. Not to mention he comes off as fake as one can.

He’s definitely a me first kinda guy.

Jody is really clearing the books on both her franchises. Rumor has Howard Schultz aggressively perusing the Seahawks. Guess OKC wants a football team lol.

Last sentence was a joke but he is trying to buy the Hawks.

To me Griffey is the answer to the question. The guy was almost bigger than the sport and arguably was the best in baseball (especially without being helped out chemically) over a 5 year stretch! As good as Russ is, he was never even the best QB in his own conference, let alone the league and never close to being the best player.

You don't trade Wilson if you are trying to compete, IMO.
