OT Russia claims it can wipe out entire US Navy with a single ‘electronic bomb’

Oh please... if we ever do go to war.... and I mean real war and not some Iraq bullshit..... the ground is going to open up and all of the freaky next level tech that we've been hiding for the past 30 years is going to float up out of the hangers and blow everyone's minds.

Think about this.... we brought out the F117 back in the Gulf Classic because we didn't care if people knew about our stealth tech anymore. Any time the US military exposes the public to something, you can almost guarantee that there's something cooler that's hiding in a secret installation.

Retire the SR71... and supposedly there's the Aurora that the military won't confirm. So all of those weird UFO sightings that people had around Area 51, we're going to see that cool stuff emerge and wreck some Russian ass.

Not really. Our superiority didn't win us Vietnam.

Easy Denny!
I meant the Navy has nothing without it's smart weapons.
Take away the Tomahawk from the Burke class Destroyers, you left with a 5" gun.
Take away the smart bombs from a Carrier, I doubt a F18 could fly slow enough to get a gravity bomb within a mile of where you need it.
So there is no Superiority without the Smart weapons.
We have the the number on the whole world for the number of Carriers but... They can may emergency power and water for some place
devastated by something, but not so good a blowing shit up without smart weapons.

This is sort of why I think they need a new class of Destroyer, to fill the historical tactical role we have no ship filling these days. Like direct fire support and the ability to get the support where it is needed when it is needed. The President should never be told, no assets available. ( I gleaned the idea from Alfred Mahan)

We weren't trying to "win" Vietnam. We were trying to recreate Korea by keeping the North Vietnamese on the other side of their border. That's not "winning" anything. That's an impossible task. If it was as simple as just going in and dominating North Vietnam, it would have been over and done. We weren't trying to go in and destroy them. If you look at the Iraq War, it's basically an example of both scenarios. On the one hand, we were able to completely conquer Iraq in a matter of a week. At one point Iraq had one of the largest armies in the world. If we're actually trying to conquer, we can wipe out any military in fairly short order. It's the second phase of the Iraq War that was unwinnable. Occupation. Totally different ball game, and it's a scenario where your technology and superiority doesn't mean nearly as much.

Russia is doing to us what we did to them. They went broke and communism collapsed trying to compete against Reagan's Star Wars.

Now Russia throwing out some cryptic threats and Denny is ready to start up the draft and arming them with sticks and biplanes.

Denny is right. Russia will zip tie grenades to the wheels of our missiles and Navy ships.

Sure, but the navy's guns only shoot so far inland. If the battles are in Berlin, the navy isn't going to help much, other than as mobile airfields.

In Iraq, we had GPS and laser guided pin point munitions. Take that away and we're not quite taking out the targets we want, or hitting potential enemy aircraft with a guided missile from miles away.

A lot of what I saw during the Iraq operations was video sent via satellite back to an HQ. Or guys remotely flying drones using VR.

And in Vietnam we were facing a bunch of dudes with AKs and pajamas. The technology gap between the NVA and the US at that time was probably about the same as the gap between the US and Iraq.

RUSSIA has claimed it can disable the entire US Navy in one fell swoop using powerful electronic signal jamming.

Hey BrianFromWA, question for you.

Why can't our military put on cool parades like the North Koreans do? Wouldn't you like to goose-step down Pennsylvania Ave along with some really big missiles?

Asking for a fiend.

What leaks out of Russia have you seen in the last few years in Wikileaks? I can't recall any.
This one was pretty good....

Trump wanted to do that for his inauguration... and the Military said no.
