Is it bad of me to not want an electric car. Or the fact that we don’t ever even know what our MPG is. We recycle our asses off, but thats about where it stops. I have a V8 and love it. Sorry.

We did not get an EV because we needed to hug trees. It was a combination of professional need to know for my wife (her company does things in this area including EV infrastructure planning) and interest in the technology. Having experienced it, we will continue to use an EV because we just love the experience. It makes an awful lot of sense for a city car. No noise, excellent acceleration, no services needed (no oil changes, the every year dealership service consists of rotating the tires, nothing more), no need to stop at gas stations (she charges at home over-night).

Our other cars include old vintage race cars and a big V8 SUV as our family car, so it's not like we live the granola life, but it is nice to be good to the environment when we can and enjoy the perks of an EV as a city car (and there are real advantages, as I listed above).

2003 Audi A6 4.2L ......absolutely love everything about it. Getting old, but paid for. My brother works on German cars, so it is well taken care of and is amazing on the road. All Wheel Drive, it’s great in the snow and the V8 is fantastic. Just handed down our 1999 4Runner to our son who now drives and had to get The Mrs. HCP a new ride, so I don’t think I will be getting anything anytime soon.......and I’m cool with that.

Could this be your ultimate EV experience?>IMG_1922.JPG IMG_1921.JPG

Looks like a pro magazine photo shoot!

It's a Hybrid, so not a real EV, also - it is super low and has really wide seals - making it a lousy daily driver- getting in and out of it is a real pain. It is pretty, however.
Screw the back and knee pain. The ultimate goal is the image. hahaha.th88ENEP3D.jpg

It's a GTI, right? (not an R). They seem to have some crazy deals blowing GTIs off the lots. Might be the best new car deal out there at this time. Excellent car, fantastic fun, big discounts.

GTI Autobahn, 220 HP stock, ~310 HP with the stage 1 tune.

Yeah, it is a hellofalotta fun. The downside is the front wheel drive. The thing has so much torque, it chirps the tires in first and second gear. Get it rolling just a little and it takes off.

If I had to do it again, I'd do the R.

It's not the fastest car on the road, but for a hatch back, it's deceptively fast, the interior is hand stitched leather and otherwise awesome, fun to drive, and useful for hauling groceries.

We leased the e-golf exactly because when the lease is up the tech in the newer models would be that much better. It's rated 85, too.

A 2 year lease would get you to the new VW Id car. Or a 3 year lease would get you to 2nd year model, which might be better.

The new bus looks fantastic, too, but won't be available until later.
I drove lots of VW's in the auction lots. They have a solid ride +

The e-golf is fun in its own right. Floor it and it's accelerates plenty fast and gets up to speed quicker than most. It's like an elevator taking off. Quiet - no engine sound. Never need to stand outside in the rain or cold/heat to pump gas. First year maintenance consisted of filling the tires with air.

The batteries are flat across the bottom, which gives it a low center of gravity and maxes out the interior space. The low center of gravity makes it hug the road even better than the GTI. It rides higher than the GTI, though.

The interior is a lot cheaper looking, but still nice. The A/C takes a lot longer to cool the inside in the e-golf than the GTI.

We might go Tesla when the lease is up, but I find nothing to complain about with the e-golf.

BTW, the new Tesla roadster does 0-60 in 1.9 seconds. While it blows the doors off most gas cars (Lotus, Ferarri, etc.), the gas cars end up doing better over longer distances. The roadster has a 620 mile range on one charge, too.

Did you have the left fender painted or was it the wrong color when you bought it?

You know I never noticed that. I messed with the picture. Threw some different filters on it, maybe that made it look off?

Most likely been painted. Could have even been painted at the original dealership that sold it. Silver is hard to match.

The only thing missing from the cars on your wish list is neon lighting on the bottom. You have more taste than this.

I heard it's range is the moon.

I would love to get a Tesla, just have very little chance of affording it.

Actually looking to sell my truck and buy a new (used) car right now

The new Model S should cost you ~$30K after government support. A lease for that with $2K down might be ~$250/mo.

Not in everyone's price range, but still not only for the rich like many of the other Teslas are.

Broke down and got my wife this last week. Toyota Highlander Limited...... not happy about the car payment, but she loves it. Surprised her, didn’t see it coming. Delivered it to her work. Never spoiler her, so I should be good for awhile. Driving it on the beach in the sand yesterday and the snow today. It’s a great car.

And for you tree huggers, it has this green ECO light that comes on when you drive responsibly, trying to get it removed soon, ha!

That's a Model 3, not S - the S are more expensive. It will not happen before 2019 however, they are not planning on delivering any stripper model 3s anytime soon. The stuff they expect to deliver in the next year+ goes around $50K

My bad. The Model 3, it's brand new.

Question for the E-Car people....... won’t those batteries always be here? I mean, never break down or go away? What is the situation or plan with those once the cars are off the road?
