Sounds about right to me. Portland is young and will really struggle this year. Anyone who thinks or thought differently needs to brace for disappointment
And.... that's why we should look into trading Aldridge. He doesn't fit the window.

Who says we're NOT looking into trading Aldridge?
Here's hoping Aldridge isn't already trying to force a trade, because with his play so far, he's kind of giving that impression.
Who could we get for him, anyway? Realistically?

James Harden. OKC would kill to have an all-star big man around Durant.
Don't see why we shouldn't keep Aldridge though. He's got a good 7 years in his engine.
The idea that the Portland Trailblazers should target another superstar doesn’t seem to sit particularly well with LaMarcus Aldridge. He would prefer if the team brought in more guys to fit in with him. Per CSNNW: “I think every team in this league feels that I’m a number one and that’s why they double-team me and they scheme me the way they do it,’ Aldridge said. ‘If I wasn’t a number one, teams wouldn’t double-team me and teams wouldn’t try to take me out. So I don’t think there’s no need to bring in a number one. This organization can do whatever they want to do, but I think it’s definitely good to keep putting really solid pieces around myself, Dame [Lillard], Meyers [Leonard], and J.J. [Hickson]. But I don’t think it’s no need to bring in a number one, but if they do, I’ll play my role.’ [...] Back in the day, he says he was an afterthought on the offensive end behind Brandon Roy, Greg Oden, and Andre Miller and it frustrated him to the point to where he was almost traded. Now, he’s grateful to show the world that he’s worthy of this franchise role. ‘People don’t realize that I went from the fourth option, to almost traded, to now the main guy,’ Aldridge said. ‘So I definitely don’t take my position lightly. I’m happy to be in this position and trying to just get better with everybody else.’”
Other teams doubling teaming and scheming LMA means that he is the best player on our team. It doesn't mean he is a "number 1" in the way that many of us talk about on here.
I think he is probably top 2 PF in the league, after Kevin Love. If he was more of a focus and posted more, he'd be #1. We just have to get that legit 2nd option, and right now it looks to be Lillard.
Not impressed with Batum/Matthews and we have a definite hole in the middle in terms of experience, size and defense.

What PF/C (25 or under) would you accept for LMA?

should have pushed for Igoudala. And like I've said in the past, there are no "5 year plans" in the NBA. You either build them in 2 years or don't do it at all.
Our roster lacks assets and the roster was too far away that even a player like Iggy wouldn't have made this team much better. At best, a first-round and out ....again.

I know, we just have a lot of young talent on cheap contracts and cap space. We totally lacked tradable assets.![]()
