Oh yeah, I remember reading that JC penny hired a CEO who stopped all the fake sales and put in regular low prices and sales tanked almost instantly and he got canned. Something to that effect, people just fall for it.

People think they're getting a deal when the price ends in .99, even if the price is 1 cent different.

People are more inclined to buy shit at 1.99, than they are at 2.00. And lots of people see "sale" and buy shit even if they don't need it OR its not actually saving money.

The problem is marketers know about this. They tailor their marketing specifically. It's really actually quite scandalous.

I hate to say that my wife falls for this shit. She thinks we're saving money.

She says "look, it's only 19.99!"
I'll say "you mean it's 20 bucks"

My favorite is a car priced at 19,999. Thank GOD it's under 20 grand.
