I got into them when Strange Love come out. But they hadn't really hit America then. When they started wearing the dark leather and hanging out with supermodels it worked. That why Violator sold a jillion copies. Before that they were like a cross between Kraftwerk and Yazoo.
If the Knicks hadn't stolen Marvin Webster from the Sonics, Sikma would have remained a PF for life, where he belonged. He could have been just a shooter like Aldridge, but was too tough for that.
