I have done it maybe 6 years ago and enjoyed it. A nice way to spend 1/2 a day (including all travel and boat ride etc...). FWIW - I found a visit to the Yuma territorial prison just as interesting. It is not a must have thing to do imho, but definitely a nice thing to do.

I've been through Yuma twice. I was greatly impressed with how little there was to see. I believe the biggest attraction was some sort of casino and the 7-11 which was humming.

The Yuma territorial prison is very nice and if you are willing to drive a bit off-road the Castle Dome ghost town is pretty amazing actually. Their "restaurant row" down-town is also surprisingly decent for such a small town in the middle of the desert.

I also found one my favorite Rolls Royces in Yuma.

Yuma's population is about 50, what did you expect. In 1966 I visited my great-grandmother there. In 1990 the camper van blew a tire in the desert, so I drove on a spare tire, a couple hundred harrowing miles to Yuma. I remember that it has a gas station that patches flats. You can visit that. Tell them I sent you, I'll get a free windshield wash.
