Anderson Cooper??? what are you talking about and why even bring up his sexuality? Of course you've just done this to a poster here too, so maybe thats just the lame way you rollSorry, Anderson Cooper doesn't count. In fact, I'm sure he's teabagged his share of folks. The preferred nomenclature is "Tea Party Goer", but you can try to diminish them any way you wish.
Does Anderson Cooper own a website called Urban Dictionary? How am I "diminishing" a group by correctly pointing out what they often call themselves and are referred to as in mainstream American culture? It seems you just want to demean those you disagree with.Anderson Cooper??? what are you talking about and why even bring up his sexuality? obviously this is titillating stuff for you... me not so much. I couldn't care less about Anderson Cooper as a reporter but I wish him well in his personal life.Anderson Cooper was the first one to call them "Teabaggers". I just thought the fact he's gay made his putdown of those folks ironic because he's likely engaged in that activity quite a bit himself.

I knew what the term teabagging meant prior to this movement, but I doubt I was in the majority knowing about this slang term for a sex act.
Since this political movement rose up, the word/term has a new meaning and is used interchangeably with tea partiers.
You can come to terms with this having happened and stop with the insults... in 2009 America that movement owns the combined words tea & bag in every sense.
I've heard conservative commentators use the term tea baggers, I've heard tea partiers use it in interviews too.
lastly, if anything the preexisting sex slang is as much a bonus for them as it is an embarrassment. It's a loaded word that raises the blood pressure of some which brings them added attention. They definitely want attention and as they say any publicity is good publicity. Besides, you do know it's not just a gay sex act... right?

This thread is a great indication of why I hate politics. Intelligent people on either side of the political spectrum reduced to exchanging barbs.
Really? This is what you want to discuss? Which party bows deeper and more often to foreign political leaders? Which party has accused its rival party's leader of being Hitler?
Unfortunately, this seems to be what politics is today, even when I look at people who should be above it like Congress.

I don't know, if you make statements about one party, when your own party does the same, it's kind of makes you look like you're just a talking point machine.
It does seem to me that the Hitler comparisons coming from the left are coordinated, funded, and organized, while the ones coming from the right seem to be coming from a very small lunatic fringe.I don't know, if you make statements about one party, when your own party does the same, it's kind of makes you look like you're just a talking point machine.

Agreed. I don't see what the commotion is about Obama bowing before another head of state. It's protocol. Though I'm certain it was (people who became) Obama supporters who came up with all sorts of nasty stuff about Bush holding hands and worse (9/11 conspiracy theories).
thanks Captain Internet for saving us with a non sequiturNot at all. But Anderson Cooper deserves to be called out for belittling Americans who are protesting the increasing role of government in their lives.
I'm sure there are many posters here who'd never heard it. I barely ever had.It was hardly an obscure term. Your doubt is unfounded.
right, so I'm imagining (or lying about) what I'm contending. You are such a joy! It's only used by people looking to impugn the credibility and motives of these protesters. Those who attend tea parties don't refer to themselves as "teabaggers".
if I were on the Left I'd try to bring these people into my camp. If I were a Tea Partier I'd call myself the a Bagger to own the wordWhy should I come to terms with one side trying to denegrate an entire movement? I get why you're trying to use the term; words have power. However, shouldn't you show them respect? Perhaps, you're afraid of their message. I know if I were on the Left, I'd be nervous the quiet majority of Americans that just try to live their lives are rising up against this transformation of America.
ha! Thats not even what I was implying... paging Dr Freud! As for them owning the term in "every sense", why are you so fixated on these people gargling testicles? Do you really think that's what they do?
CNN radio. Look up your own links lazy boy.Name the commentators. Provide the links to where they used it.
they get additional attention because they have a loaded word associated with their name. This extra attention helps their message get heard as it makes an impression. I'd expect most people who do know the double meaning give it about a half second of smirking thought and then don't ever give a crap again. Thankfully we have ever vigilant patriots like you playing word police on the internet keeping us safe from nothing issues.Ah, the "any publicity is good publicity" argument. Sorry, it doesn't work for these folks. By every account, these protests have been civil and respectful. These people haven't been confrontational. They haven't gone out of their way to piss people off. They want attention, but the they want the message to come to the forefront, not them personally.
with all the attention you keep focusing on gay stuff I was beginning to wonder what you were really trying to sayAs for it being more than a gay act, I understand that as well. Thanks for belaboring the obvious.

The ones from the left, which are just as pathetic and idiotic, are probably as much a minority of the whole, as those of the right.
And please, the left is anything but well funded, organized and coordinated.![]()
You have got to be kidding. George Soros? ACORN? Michael Moore? What'sherface Huffington? Dailykos? Al Gore? AFL-CIO? Not well funded, organized, and coordinated? All have fanned the flames of irrational hatred on the left.
Handing out signs, busing in protesters, paying protesters, knowingly disseminating false and/or misleading information, using thugs to intimidate and suppress dissent, etc.
I'm sure some of that happens on the other end of the spectrum, but it's on a much smaller scale.
The mainstream right wishes the nuts would go away, while the left embraces, supports, and defends their whack jobs.
You've never heard the 9/11 conspiracy theories?

Watched Palins interview tonight with O'Reilly. She maybe more clueless and out of touch than either Bush or Obama.
ChristiansI honestly wonder who the "left" hates?
You've never heard the 9/11 conspiracy theories?
I've heard the conspiracy theories. Just nothing relating to Bush holding hands.
