Could Scarlett Johansson step in for Emily Blunt in Iron Man 2?

With word that Emily Blunt might be forced to drop out of the Black Widow role in the superhero sequel thanks to commitments to Gulliver’s Travels, it was only natural that other names would start cropping up.

And while nothing has been decided – for all anyone knows, Blunt could still be locked in to play ultra-cool lady spy Natasha Romanoff if the scheduling issues can be worked out.

But Entertainment Weekly has heard that Scarlett Johansson has met with Jon Favreau and the Marvel producers, which makes us think that they’re readying an emergency back up if Blunt has to cancel.

Johansson doesn’t really seem to fit the part if you ask us – we’d much rather have Blunt in the part.

Love them titties.

Mickey Rourke and Scarlett Johansson sign on for 'Iron Man 2'

Now that he's done beating up opponents in the squared circle, "The Wrestler" star Mickey Rourke will go one-on-one with Iron Man.

Variety is reporting Rourke has signed on to play a Russian villain -- believed to include elements of both Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo -- in the follow-up to 2008's "Iron Man."

Joining Rourke in the highly anticipated sequel will be Scarlett Johansson. Johanssen is expected to play Russian super spy Natasha Romanova, a.k.a. the Black Widow.

Rourke and Johansson join an impressive cast that includes Robert Downey, Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow and Sam Rockwell.

Although I'm not exactly thrilled with Johansson's casting (fan favorite Emily Blunt originally was set to land the role, but had to bow out over scheduling conflicts), seeing the two incredibly talented actors Rourke and Downey Jr. mix it up is more than enough to make up for it.

This won't be the first time either actor has starred in a comic book-based film. Rourke received rave reviews from fans for his portrayal of Marv in 2005's "Sin City." Johansson played femme fatale Silken Floss in last year's not-quite-as-successful "The Spirit."

"Iron Man 2" is scheduled for release May 7, 2010.
