Alright, I'm looking to add more rock type songs to my collection.I like Breaking Benjamin. They pretty good. So I want bands that are like them or sort of like them.Help me out.

You can't have rock songs without Led Zeppelin. Or Hendrix. Or Van Halen. You get the point.

I'm going to make some guesses here. Stuff like Bullet for my valentine, 30 seconds to Mars maybe even AFI... those are in the same genres as BB

Sugar, We're Going Down - Fall Out BoyWelcome To My Life - Simple PlanSomebody Told Me - The KillersDance, Dance - Fall Out BoyI Write Sins Not Tragedies - Panic! At The DiscoYou're set.

I'm sory, but Fallout Boy = Bad... The killers are good tho, Get "When you were Young"

AFI, Panic at wtf, Fall Out Boy=Emo. This generation of rock sucks

AFI only has one really bad Emo Song = Miss Murder. That gave them the bad rap as emo

More emo music? All American Rejects...I like Breaking Benjamin. Get Death Cab for Cutie. There not the same, but I think you'd like them too.

I hope you guys realize that I was kidding..

Good. I was having second thoughts about you Zards. For a second I thought mabye you wore hair over your eyes

Jimi Hendrix
Led Zeppelin
The Who
Other Classics
311
Black Sabbath
Tenacious D
Others...

If you really want to rock, you have to do it by genres. Here are a few of the best in a few genres that I listen to most of the time. PunkThe ClashThe RamonesBad ReligionBlues RockCreamBlack SabbathLed Zeppelin*******************PsychedelicPink FloydRushJimi Hendrix ExperiencePower Pop RockRolling StonesBeatlesThe WhoAC/DCVan HalenGrungePearl JamNirvanaSoundgardenAlice In ChainsPresent-DayRed Hot Chili PeppersWeezerThe White StripesDave Matthews BandThat should set you up for a while. If you like a certain genre more, make it known in the thread and I'm sure people will tell you more bands that sound like them. I love music and know a ton about a ton of bands. I might actaully know more about music than basketball.

I've never heard of this term before. I'd classify those bands as Alternative bands but each of them are quite different in their own right.I find it quite annoying how the term 'emo' has been blown out of proportion by the media. The stereotype of 'emo' bands are guys with long hair that cover their eyes who cry, whine and promote the use of self-harm. Many fans don't know but bands like Weezer and Jimmy Eat World were considered early emo bands. Bands like The Get Up Kids are emo but the media don't blame them for teenage suicides but instead point their fingers at bands like My Chemical Romance. All I'm saying is that a lot of bands are emo but are not frowned upon by the media because they do not have the same image. By no means am I trying to defend 'emo's' but the stereotype annoys me just a little when the audience judges a band by their appearance as opposed to their music.

Weezer in no way was ever considered emo. They've always been Alternative with punk influenences.

Nash you must be emo. Because I've never seen anyone stick up for the word "emo" like that in my life. Unless you were one, idk why you would care so muchLol Zards

If you knew anything about the term 'emo', you would understand that it's not just about the image of wrist-slitting depressed teenagers. There are lots of different types of emo and Weezer were considered 'indie emo'. If you've heard any of their early stuff like the Pinkerton album, you would understand why they were considered emo. In fact, that album was one of the emo albums that were definitive in the 90's.And LAZY, I'm not emo and I'm not defending emo. I don't have my hair covering my eyes, I don't wear mascara and I don't cry about my life. I'm just trying to make a point and tell you that there's more to emo than bands like My Chemical Romance and that many have the wrong impression of emo bands.

Godsmack. They are great, they are like Breaking Benjamin.

In fact, I'll bold that part of your sentence. WERE. Ever thought that maybe Weezer's sound hasnt changed, but the Emo genre's sound has changed? They might be considered emo on a very loose description by some, but they are very power pop with a punk influence. I find it funny that you say Pinkerton was a definitve emo album of the 90's when it draws more comparisions to The Who's rock opera Tommy. Also, if you listen to Weezer's last album Make Believe, you would know that that's the album that sounds more "emo" than any other Weezer album. But of course I clearly know nothin about music. Also, if Weezer was so emo, then why are they a wide success in both Europe and Asia where Emo bands get frowned upon? Europeans hate emo music but accept Weezer. :dunno: But of course I know nothing about music.

All I'm I was saying was that Weezer was considered emo in the early stages of their career. I never said Weezer was 'so emo' and actually, there are alot of emo's in Europe. I've actually been to England myself and there are quite a number of emo's there but that's not the point. All I was saying was that alot of bands were previously considered emo yet the general public only seem to look at the genre through the eyes of modern day bands like Fall out boy. In the previous post, you clearly said that 'Weezer in no way was ever considered emo', all I'm trying to tell you is that they were as were many bands of their time that have grown to become so popular.

I love hardcore classic rock, I like Hinder and a lot of good rock groups that are big right now...but I don't mind some All-American Rejects, The Killlers and some Fall Out Boy...I'm not about bands, I just like good songs...I'm not super loyal to any one band besides AC/DC and a few older classic rock bands... Do I think emo singers look like dipshits? Sure, but some of the music isn't that bad.
