Ed Schultz gave a 4-minute long apology for calling fellow radio talk show host Laura Ingraham a "right-wing slut" during his program. Schultz says he is indefinitely suspended from his show for the time being.

"On my radio show yesterday, I used vile and inappropriate language when talking about talk show host Laura Ingraham. I am deeply sorry, and I apologize. It was wrong, uncalled for and I recognize the severity of what I said. I apologize to you, Laura and ask for your forgiveness. It doesn't matter what the circumstances were. It doesn't matter that it was on radio and I was ad libbing. none of that matters. none of that matters. What matters is what I said was terribly vile and not of the standards that I or any other person should adhere to. I want all of you to know tonight that I did call Laura Ingraham today and did not make contact with her and I will apologize to her as i did in the message that I left her today. I also met with management here at MSNBC, and understanding the severity of the situation and what I said on the radio and how it reflected terribly on this company, I have offered to take myself off the air for an indefinite period of time with no pay. I want to apologize to Laura Ingraham. I want to apologize to my family, my wife. I have embarrassed my family. I have embarrassed this company. And I have been in this business since 1978, and I have made a lot of mistakes. This is the lowest of low for me. I stand before you tonight in front of this camera in this studio in an environment that I absolutely love. I love working here. I love communicating with all of you on the radio and the communication that I have with you when i go out and do town hall meetings and meet the people that actually watch. I std before you tonight to take full responsibility for what I said and how I said it, and I am deeply sorry," Schultz said on his MSNBC show this evening.

After Schultz delivered his statement the show cut to a commercial break. When the show returned after the pause MSNBC morning personality Thomas Roberts was now hosting.

First Olbermann, now Schultz. Serial meltdown going on at MSNBC?

The funny thing is before Laura rediscovered religion, it was an apt description. She shared a beach house with some friends of mine and--like the rest of us--had some pretty wild summers at Dewey. She was also a fixture at dollar Heineken/Amstel nights at the Mad Hatter on Tuesday night. She's a great gal, however, and is a very different person now than she was in her 20s. It was completely uncalled for by Ed Schultz, who tried to cast himself as the Rush Limbaugh of the Upper Midwest before having to reinvent himself as a "Liberal" (I put Liberal in quotes because I'm not sure he believes anything he says).

I never thought she was a slut. She is a bitch though.

This is an example for all the phony "sorry if anyone is offended" "sorry if you have been inconvenienced" bullshit fake apologies. Schultz' language was inexcusable, he made no excuses, he said circumstances don't matter.

This Ingraham insult seems to be small-time stuff for Angry Ed...

MSNBC Airs Ed Schultz Program,
He's A Wife-Beater And Dog Killer

I see MSNBC is really scraping the bottom of the barrel for liberal mouthpieces. They've gone and dug deep into the dirty, dark, dank, moldy, parasite-infected crevasse and pulled Big Fat Dumb Ed Schultz out of the gutter and put him on television. Wow.

Ed Schultz: Wife-Beater / Drunk Dog Shooter

If you watch his program - and for the life of me I can't think of why you would - just remember the two following things about Big Fat Dumb Ed:

1) He's a wife-beater. Beat and physically abused his first wife, Maureen, until she was black and blue and bruised and bloodied. I've written this before. It's no secret. If it weren't true, Ed could sue me for libel and defamation. So far, he hasn't. That's because you can't sue someone for telling the truth.

2) During a hunting trip, a drunken Ed -while hunting, mind you - shot and killed his own dog. Again, this is true.

You don't have to believe me on any of this. Search it out for yourself.

Other gems from this vacuous piece of absolute feces includes his pathetic attack on the wife of Republican Senator Larry Craig:
"Maybe Larry Craig's wife sticks by him because she doesn't want to go out and get a job."

"Maybe [Mrs. Craig] goes along with this because she's looking forward to the retirement."

"She's a fool to go along with this."

"[Mrs. Craig] is an idiot for staying with him. She's dumb."

And his compassionless Coup de Smear of Anna Nicole Smith calling her a, "dead whore," and stating that he is, "fresh out of sympathy for her."

This is all so funny from the Fat Drunken Wife Beater/Dog Killer...because if you listen to his Liberal Radio program like I do, he often asks rhetorically, "where has the civility gone?"

Indeed. Where has civility gone?

I don't know why "slut" is a word that is taboo.

Celebrities are called "media whores" all the time... the difference between a slut and a whore is that one is paid.

I think that Schultz is a moron, but I think that all the outrage over calling someone a right-wing slut or a political slut is ridiculous IMO.

I bet Ed Schultz sees it as you do. He only apologized after the PC-driven bosses at NBC suspended him.

You mysogynists need to stick together and circle the wagons from these unfair attacks on you. I disagee with you guys, but I believe in your right to use sexual pejoratives against women you disagree with, even if I don't use the terms myself.

haha papag is better than you, neener neener neener!

I use "bastard", too.

Should men be in arms when "bastard" is used?

Or "motherfucker"?

They are entirely inappropriate terms 99% of the time, but I fail to see why women, in particular, should be upset at the use of such a term.

Ed O.

A woman can be a bastard, too.

It's not using the word, per se, it's applying the word to the woman. It shows no respect, and it's a lot more demeaning than Ed O's examples.

it has to be taken into context a little, but yeah, the guy is dumb

A woman can be a bastard, too.

It depends on how one defines "bastard". Historically, with names being passed from male to male, only a man's legitimacy mattered very much. I don't think that "his bastard" is ever referring to a female.

In any case, "son of a bitch". There we go. Only applicable to men, and yet there's no outcry over its use, I don't think.

It's not using the word, per se, it's applying the word to the woman. It shows no respect, and it's a lot more demeaning than Ed O's examples.

So if he called Lada Gaga "a whore--a media whore" ... he would be under this much fire?

To me, sex isn't a huge deal. There's no reason that women associated with sex should be more up in arms than those associated with violence or dishonesty... there's an inconsistency to me in both disputing that a woman's purity is special and becoming offended when the absence of it is used as a slur.

I know. You and Ed Schultz have no problem with it. I don't have a problem with people saying it, other than viewing them as having misogynistic tendencies.

Do you use the "N-word" regularly as well? If you do, it doesn't affect me, but I'd view you as somebody who has racist tendencies.

That couldn't be further from the truth. She used to love to hook up, but she's a really kind person.

I'll take your word for it. I just know how she behaves on TV. Total bitch.

Hey Ed, go up to a woman in your office who works hard and often, and that you don't know very well (if at all) and criticize her for being an "office slut" because that's all she does.

See what reaction you get, and report back to me. :)

i call people who friend everyone on facebook "friend sluts" be they male or bitch

same with someone who always has everybody buy them beers at the bar..."beer slut"

maybe you just hang around with a bunch of prudes

I do not, no.

African Americans are, by and large, here as a result of slavery. There is a long and storied history of violent repression and discrimination in our country. They make up a fraction of the population of the USA. The N-word is almost (not quite, of course) singular in its hurtfulness.

Women, on the other hand, are over half of the US population. They have challenges that men do not, for sure, but nothing approaching the difficulties faced by racial minorities, and especially African Americans, in my opinion.

Why would I do that when I don't call my male coworkers "office assholes" or "office sons-of-bitches"?

I think that the reaction would be the same either way, though.

I said I don't care. I just don't find it very professional. I don't have any Facebook friends who use the term 'slut'. Some college drinking buddies? Sure, it got thrown around a bit. We just run in different circles, I guess. You're still in frat guy stage, which is cool, and I'm a bit older and more grumpy.

So using deragatory pejoratives to decribe a woman is OK, but using one to describe a black person is not OK.

See, everybody has their own lines they won't cross.

The word slut is a term of endearment. I love sluts!
