A semi-popular Nets topic since the All-star break has been the apparent disappearance of any impact Sean Williams may have once brought to the game. Rather than blaming this on a rookie "wall" or lack of focus, I have noticed something very odd during Nets games. It seems as if whenever he's on the floor the players make it a point NOT to pass him the ball or give him anything resembling an offensive opportunity. It is sad to watch the kid set pick after pick after pick for about 5 minutes straight, only to see either RJ, VC, or devin harris completely deny him of a pass on the roll. Now considering that when we started the season and we were giving him not only easy buckets but POST UP opportunities, it is not very hard to deduce why the guy has disappeared. Hell, Diop gets more touches when he's in the game than Sean does. Simply put, I can't blame Sean for looking disinterested on both ends of the floor, seeing as he has no role on the offensive end, despite the flashes of offensive skill we have seen in the past. This is just an idea im throwing out there, anyone care to discuss??

I too have noticed this. In this game in particular, there were many times when Sean called for the ball but did not have it delivered to him. Personally I thought that in just about every instance Sean shouldn't be thrown the ball. He was either too far away from the basket, or in the middle of a bunch of Toronto defenders. I kept thinking that Sean found a pocket in the defense, but wouldn't be able to do anything with it afterwards, and understood when players would check off Williams and go in a different direction.

He needs to learn where to be on offense, and where to get his touches in our offense (or any offense for that matter).

im thinkin the same thing. i posted a thread like a month ago and ppl were like oh its just that he not doing this and that. but ive Never seen him get the ball, hes asking for the ball, rolling to the basket for a PERFECT pass to him and an easy lay in/dunk to the basket like amare does Could happen. but they never pass it to him

Because its not easy. The plays that you could see happening won't because in most cases the lane is clogged, the entry pass would be extremely difficult, and Sean isn't polished enough (or has the ball handling) to pull that move off. It's like chess, you have to see a couple moves a head and realize there are better options and shots on offense to be had.

Also it is because he's a rookie. He isn't like Kevin Durrant where the team is handed to him, he has to work harder to get that respect of whoever is handling the ball.

Let's all not dramatize situation when there is no need for it. Sean is a rookie with a little basketball under his belt. Let him develop and have faith in him. Kid has tools, desire. All he needs is time and some maturity.

Before the allstar break Sean got those touches more often because the Nets had a passer like Kidd to deliver the ball. Not saying any of the currents Nets arent good passers, but Kidd was the best on the team when it came to setting up the bigs while they were in the lane. Carter is a good passer but he is most effective with the pick n' roll, as opposed to Kidd who was able to knife the ball into the lane as it if were nothing.

Look at it this way.... Sean calls for the ball EVERY time the Nets have the ball,
The guys wont pass him the ball everytime he calls for it, therefore it would seem like they arent
passing the ball to him.

Yeah, he honestly gets into position very often, backing his man and asking for the ball. But it's usually about 8 feet away from the basket though, on the wings. Knowing his skills, I'm not really sure what he could do from there.
