Seattle Times reporting Comcast is out - Root Sports is in

Kudos to Blazer management for fixing this broadcasting issue. Their hands were tied due to the contract they inherited. They clearly want to do right by the fans.

Comcast wont ditch Root sports. Calm down boys. Mariners are far bigger than the Blazers. But I am happy that the Blazer monopoly is finally going to be over.

120/month "digital premier" or whatever (so all channels including movie chans) + 150 internet @ Comcast.

If you have to pay more, you need to renegotiate at your contract end date. My advice is to swap the person whose signing up, so they see it as a new customer. If they give you grief, go to DirecTV for 2 years; just flip flop the fucks.

So what happens in the Spring when the Mariners and Blazers are on at the same time?

Wait, so the Mariners own 70% of the channel, so they were negotiating with the Mariners?

It's baseball. Calabro can cut away from the Blazer game once every 30 minutes when something interesting happens.

this is the Mariners we're talking about. It won't even be that often.

Honestly. Does anyone in Portland actually watch the Mariners? And if you do--Shame on You! JK

I know there is no chance of ever getting an MLB team. But I can dream can't I...... The Portland Hacky Sacks.

Air the Blazers game instead

If this is true, I wonder if Quick et al will jump ship or just get laid off from CSNNW. Without the Blazers, there is no point in watching that horrible network. Soccer and hockey reruns aren't going to keep them afloat.

Ive got direct tv but ill still have to get league pass.

Fun fact about league pass. I paid for it on auto renewal back in october, last game of season i called and told then i wanted to cancle the auto renewal cause i was going to order through direct tv next year. They not only cancled it, but refunded me for last season. So essentially I got league pass for free last year.

Just get Playstation Vue, I know you have a Ps4. It has CSN on it for Oregon, or at least it does down here.

I'm stuck with Internet that tops out at 6mb and a wife to share it with. Not enough speed to cord cut unfortunately.

How are you stuck with Internet like that up there when I can get much better in the boonies?

I'm thinking must the 1/4 mile driveway we are on. Century Link is the only one that will come up here and it's garbage price :( Charter comes up to the main road but won't install down our driveway unless we want to pay for it and it's like 10 grand Lolz.

The city that inhabited the Sonics is getting way to much mention in this forum. Fuck them

Charter sucks balls, their shit doesn't even completely work even after they make you pay crazy prices like that.

Unfortunately those are the main options here :( we had Charter for 2 years at our last place and never paid more than $35 for 50 down. I'd kill for 1/2 that now though.

Charter and Century Link are the only options here too, those companies must have a stranglehold on rural-ish Oregon.

"The Blazers’ problematic 10-year, $120-million deal with Comcast expires after 2016-17. Sources say the team will announce within a week or two they’ll join Mariners-owned ROOT Sports Northwest on a partnership with enhanced distribution of Blazers games.

The attractive part of ROOT Sports, which the Mariners own 71 percent of, is that DirecTV is a 29 percent minority partner. DirecTV uses a satellite-based distribution system blanketing a multi-state territory that includes Oregon and Washington."

The Oregonian fucked up and this was a premature article that the Blazers said was NOT completed and negotiations are STILL in the works. Only read the first page of this thread though. Maybe someone else pointed that out as well.

I do watch the Mariners. Grew up a cubs fan, became a Mariners fan in the late 90's.

I honestly don't understand the Seattle hate. (not saying you, just in general). It just seems like a big waste of time.

Yeah. You're right. It's like they say in movies sometimes, "it's complicated." I sometimes go WTF and then I'll chance upon some social media tidbit a friend forwards me and I'm like "Ohhh I remember why I hate those guys." It's just that way rival cities are the world over, LA/SF, Boston/NY, Houston/Dallas.... goes with the territory.

I mean, I get rivalry... but it's not too difficult to differentiate and separate the city from the team (or player on a team) I hate the lakers, and I hated Kobe... but I don't hate LA as a city... some people just hate everything about a city because of something that's separate from the city. (Even if they are a representation of it, it's still separate).
