Seattle's Key Arena to host Blazers/Suns preseason game (10/14/09)

Too bad it couldn't have been Blazers vs. Thunder, and see who the Seattle fans would root for.

Makes sense. I'd love to see the game sell out and help prove to Stern that Seattle needs an NBA team.

I think it's more likely that Seattle area fans would boycott the game. Just read some of the comments at the bottom of the article I linked. They don't exactly sounds boisterous about the opportunity to prove Seattle is a NBA city (at least not in that way).

Didn't see this posted anywhere. But ouch, that's gotta sting for Seattle NBA fans. After the NBA partners with Clay Bennett to tell Seattle that Key Arena is unfit for NBA basketball, then they come back and stage an exhibition game there.

Too soon, methinks.

The local sports station up here is hearing that Portland is trying to get a Radio Affliate up in the puget sound. We already get a bunch of blazer games on the comcast northwest sports channel.

The same radio sports host also wants sonic fans to come in wearing green/gold, doing sonic chants etc.

Interesting, although I'm definitely sensitive the the whole "shoving it down their throats" thing. I feel like we get the Mariners and Seahawks shoved down our throats in Portland, and subsequently I (and a bunch of my friends) resent them rather than root for them.

I don't know if any of you saw that recently Oklahoma was unable to raise the funds for their new arena contruction using a sales tax because it did not bring in as much revenue as they thought. So now, they have moved the team, and now have no new arena unless they figure out a fix. Great job Clay! You took a team from a city that loved it, and a city with an arena in place, to hicksville, and no arena in place. What are ya going to do now?

True, but the M's/Hawks do get MANY fans from Oregon.

And the same thing for the Blazers up here, there was a poll that the radio station had, about if people wanted the station to carry blazer games, it was 50/50. There is a market for the blazers up here. It doesn't hurt the blazers have the all-time favorite husky, Paul Allen who saved the Hawks, and Mr Sonic, Nate.

Also UW recruit Martell Webster.

Isn't their arena fairly new? I thought it was money needed for a closer practice facility.

Yeah, that will be the first time Nash has faced the Suns since the big draft day trade!

This could be fun. I might have to walk the four or five blocks and see my Blazers! :)

Lol! I picked the exact wrong time to take a big swig of ice tea before I read this. Needless to say my nostrils are burning right now!
