I got my Laker loving friend to take a Bynum vs. Oden bet and use the stats you suggested in that thread about DaRizzle and GOD's similar bet. So I'm wondering where, oh where can I find stats that are pace adjusted etc.? Looking at Per 36 numbers it seems like Oden is slightly winning, but there aren't pace adjusted numbers on baskteball reference that I can find and it looks like 82games hasn't been updated since June. Anyone else who knows where to find advanced stats, preferably with player comparison option, please let me know!

basketball-reference.com does actually all of the information you need to track your bet. The pace based stats for the individual players won't be updated until the season is complete, but the pace for each team is listed in the Miscellaneous Statistics section of
this page (Lakers currently at 92.3 , 19th of 30 teams and Blazers at 89.5, 28th of 30 teams).
Here's the stats originally proposed/agreed upon:
Pace Adjusted PPG
TRB% (or Pace Adjusted RPG)
Pace Adjusted BPG
FG%
Total FT Made
Total PTS
Total REB
Total BLKs
This gives you 8 categories. So, the bet could end in a tie. In that case, I'd recommend PER as the tie breaker.
Note: my original porposal and recommendation was to use TRB% (which is listed on each player's stat page). Someone else suggested Pace Adjusted RPG as an alternative. Other than the Pace Adjusted Stats, all of the others can be found on
Bynum's and Oden's personal stat pages. If you REALLY want to keep track of your bet on a daily basis, you could create a spreadsheet to calculate the pace adjusted stats using the team's pace and the player's per game stats.
As of today, here's how they are doing so far (normalizing to Pace = 100):
Pace Adjusted PPG:
Bynum = 21.7, Oden = 9.4
TRB%: Bynum = 14.9%,
Oden = 22.3% or Pace Adjusted RPG:
Bynum = 11.5, Oden = 9.7
Pace Adjusted BPG: Bynum = 1.3,
Oden = 2.7
FG%: Bynum = 0.549,
Oden = 0.590
Total FT Made:
Bynum = 22, Oden = 13
Total PTS:
Bynum = 100, Oden = 59
Total REB: Bynum = 53,
Oden = 61
Total BLKs: Bynum = 6,

It should be noted that these specific stats were chosen to take into account players over all contributions. You can't score, rebound or block shots if you aren't playing - either due to injury or foul trouble. So far Bymum has seen his total production impacted by injury (his team has played 8 games, but he's missed three of them) and Oden has seen his total production limited by foul problems (he's averaging only 23.1 MPG compared to Bynum's 40.0 MPG).
For these comparions to be meaninful, we should wait until Oden's team has also played 8 games. Then we will have the numbers for both players through the first 10% of the 2009-2010 season.
As it stands today, based on my original criteria, through 8 games for the Lakers and 7 games for the Blazers, Bynum is winning 3 categories and Oden 5. However, if you use the alternate Pace Adjusted RPG, its 4 to 4 with Bynum winning the PER tie breaker 21.5 to 17.5. You REALLY need to decide if you are going to use my originally proposed TRB%, or the alternate proposal of Pace Adjusted RPG. Or, you could compromise and use both. Not my bet, I don't really care.
