Timberwolves swingman Martell Webster had an MRI on his back, but the team is awaiting the results of a second opinion before it makes a diagnosis.

Webster says he was injured in the playoffs last year with Portland. Coach Kurt Rambis said after practice on Thursday that there is more concern now after things didn't improve in the last day or two.

Webster is averaging 12.3 points per game in the preseason. He did not play against Indiana on Tuesday.

The Timberwolves open the regular season next Wednesday against the Sacramento Kings.

Feel badly for the guy ... feel better that the Blazers aren't the ones dealing with his injured back.

Damn! I was hoping Marty finally got to show his stuff! Hope he's OK.

I've been following his progress a little bit through pre-season over at canushoopus.com and apparently he's been one of their more consistent performers, but then again he's getting starters minutes and a lot of shots which is what he absolutely has to have to play his best. Hopefully he has a nice year for them.

lately when i hear the words "second opinion" in sports..... first thing that comes to mind is out for months/season/surgery

Damn, he was supposedly the T-Wolves best player. What shall they do now?
