Is the country divided because of Obama though?
Yes. His elitism and snubbing his nose at anyone who's not a college Liberal or Hollywood celebrity is what's caused this divide. Add in the fact that he NEVER remained neutral on social issues and issues of race, when he's supposed to be unbiased and impartial as president of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA.
We're not the United States of Black People.
We're not the United States of Gay People.
We're not the United States of Muslims.
We're not the United States of Mexicans.
We are the United States of America. And it was his job to remain impartial, objective, and neutral. And instead of bringing both sides together, he used his "my way or the highway" arrogance to spite anyone who didn't support his narrow views.
So yes. Our country IS divided because of him. We were never this divided under Bush Sr. We were never this divided under Clinton. And we were never this divided under a guy who bankrupted our country and got us into a needless war in Iraq.....Bush Jr.
Nope. This division has occurred at levels not seen since Jim Crow. And it's happened under Obama.
You cannot deny this, and you cannot ignore this.

For example, the LGBT community is pushing for equal rights. One of them was gay marriage, another has to do with restroom use.
Gay Marriage has already been settled, and anyone can use a bathroom that they want. NO-ONE is going to enforce that bathroom law unless a serious crime has been committed inside a bathroom, such as a sexual assault. You know that, and I know that.
I will say this though: Republicans shot themselves in the foot by grossly overreacting to this issue. They took one isolated case of some kid in Illinois or something being allowed to use a gender-neutral bathroom, and decided to make that their Tiananmen Square issue. They blew this shit completely out of proportion.
Gay Marriage? They grumbled about it.
The Ten Commandments being removed outside of court houses? They grumbled about it.
The Church of Satan using Religious Rights laws to establish their religion? They grumbled about it.
But oh....a kid wants to use a female bathroom because he identifies as a woman? Nope, can't have that....that's too much!
The Republicans were fucking idiots on that issue. This was never a problem until they made it a problem. LGBT people used public bathrooms all the time in this country without a problem....until North Carolina decided to flip a shit about it. And they used scare-mongering tactics to push this bullshit legislation.
On that issue, they were a bunch of fucking morons.
It's going to create division when a community simply wants equal rights and someone tells essentially says "well based off my religious views, I don't believe you should be allowed to have equal rights".
You have people upset over the rate in which blacks are subject to police violence and many people say shit like "well I know a white person that had the same problem, where's the outrage for him?"
I'm sorry, but these aren't "Equal" Rights. You cannot claim to want Equal Rights, and then snub your nose at a white person who's had his rights violated. It doesn't work that way.
So call it what it is: you want special rights for YOU. You want special treatment for YOU. You want special laws for YOU.

They're only as oppressed as the media makes them believe they are. Maybe...just maybe...if they stopped listening to NBC and CNN tell them constantly that they are the victims of something...and instead just live their lives normally like everyone else....then perhaps they'll be happier.
I know when I stopped watching the news, I was almost immediately a happier person. Try it some time.

We ALL have issues in this country. Mine are no more important than yours or anyone elses'. And their issues are no more important than mine. Trust me, I've got enough of my own issues to deal with, and I know other people who are far worse off than I am, and it has nothing to do with the government, the police, or Republicans.
