How this would work is roughly 5-10 minutes after the game, we would lock down the game thread and then make a simple post game thread where all the talk can happen.

Reason: It'll be easier for a viewer of the forum to find the talk of the game thread pertinent to what they are looking for.

Simple yes/no public poll. However, think about it. No viewing options will be allowed until you have voted, and no changing votes.

If you want to explain why you chose no, or have an alternative message, you're more than welcome to share that.

I voted no because there are several discussions that take place during a game or at the end of a game that continue afterwards. Not that it's very difficult to switch to a different thread but it's more convenient to have it all contained in one thread in my opinion.

Although I do like some parts about having a separate thread, mainly that it takes forever to read through a game thread if you weren't doing so in live time.

That's why i voted no also. But honestly it's okay with me either way.

I voted yes. I often don't get to participate in the game thread. Although I try to go back and read it, I also often don't have time to read a 30 page thread. It would help me to know when the game thread ends and the post game debate begins. I also think there is at least a chance that with a fresh start, certain things or points of interest that came up during the game can be discussed with more clarity. Like: "During the game I noticed X; now my panties are in a bunch because Y." Also with a fresh start, some of the personal bickering from the game thread that seems to escalate during the post game discussion might be left out and I'd have less shit to wade through. Maybe?

I'm okay with it as you still allow us to edit locked game threads and post a five minute warning that your are closng the game thread.

(The reason for the edit option is I don't wanna be in the middle of a thought, get locked out and then have all the basketball fan boys, qoute me on it for the next two threads.)

Edited for reality.

Good question.

I almost voted yes but after more thiught, i voted no.
Reasons:
1. There are enough threads already
2. End of game threads would be harder to follow or cut off completely in the middle of some back and forth.
3. Half the game threads i skim through are about 50% about the game and the rest is bickekring or off topic about a specific player based on something not currently happing in the game. I dont read them all and just skim, but this is what i saw prevelant when i used to read them more thoroughly.
4. The post game thread might have people wanting to continue a conversation, making it tougher for people who do just want the post game comments.

Now with that said. I wouldnt really care much either way, just giving my thoughts.

However, maybe a compromise? Not sure if it would require programming and if so how much, but what about a page break at the end of the game and then amend the title so the page is noted. Then anyone entering the thread can see in the title when the game ends and post game begins?

Actually that's a great point. I voted yes but now I'm not sure.

I would counter that, yes we have enough threads already, so let's start consolidating the half a dozen random thought post game threads into the "Official" post game thread. Plus, maybe we wouldn't have to endure so much whining from @HCP ;)

I originally voted yes. I've changed my mind after this post. You should let us change our answers.

Here’s what I think would be a more interesting thread idea: an officiating review thread. Basically, when someone sees what they think is a missed call, call it out in a post along with the time it occurred. We’d need 2 or 3 guys who would be willing to record the game and do post-game evaluation of the calls and post their opinions as to how many mistakes were made.

This is how I feel about it.

Alright. You can now change your votes if you'd like. Thanks for the different opinions and such, guys.

I read every single one. It may not get the posts, but it's one of my favorites.
