It's interesting how interactions even small ones can form our opinions and lasting impression of other people isn't it? Even in this thread we have the oh Sheed did something great and so I like him, and the Sheed was a jerk and so I'll remember like a jerk. It's a sobering reminder to myself to always do my best to make my interactions with other people leave an impression with them that is positive.

Look you can say he was a good player all you want. But trying to say he was the best player on both teams is a bit of a far fetched delusion. We are talking Kobe Bryant, Shaq and Sabonis not to mention Scottie Pippin. Best player my ass.
Dude threw a towel in Sabonis's face because he got burnt and Of course Sabonis was doing his job covering Shaq. But sure. Raweed was the best on the court....Whatever.

Raweed? Talk Hard? Is that you clumsily trying to rewrite established history? Wallace was pissed about being raked across the face/eyes by Sabonis flailing his arms for the second time. Was Wallace wrong to lose his temper at a teammate? Of course. Was it somewhat understandable that he truly didn't appreciate being smacked hard in the face again? Sometimes two things can be equally true.

I liked Sheed. I was actually at his last game as a Blazer. I took the wife and he was the reason she started watching Blazer basketball. To this day I have never heard a Tech called " He looked Mean at me". Ever since that call He became her favorite player. He could have been a better player had he kept his emotions in check and he did that with the Pistons. As a person I do not know much about him but the toys r us story sounds pretty shitty
 
Look Sheed was the best player on our last title contending teams. He was better than Sabas and our iteration of Pippen. He had a temper on the court and no desire to be a star. I loved Sheed. He was what we needed and without some miraculous and untimely threes from our opponents, Sheed would have delivered our second ever title. I'm not saying that it wasn't a team effort I'm just saying those efforts were led by Sheed. So give the guy some credit, he's an all time Blazers great.

When people are asking if a player can even be productive in major games it has a pretty detrimental impact on a team.
If you want to blame it on being a Seattle story then I would say to that the writers in Portland were saying much worse.
Nobody anywhere is rewriting history. No need with Wallace. He was a clown show.

No. Absolutely not understandable. It was a bullshit crybaby move and threw off the chemistry of the whole team.

That's what Sheed did though. I can't believe people defend him, quite frankly.

Sheeds antics screwed up the chemistry on that team, or it would have won a title.

He had all the tools. But he was too selfish to do what was necessary. He sabataged that team. He was nothing without Pippen and Sabonis.

He did his job for about 3 months with Detroit. That was his career right there.

He could have been right there with KG and TD for his whole career. But other than those 3 months he was a professional shit show.

You're not keeping track of the conversation. I said Roy did a lot more damage to the franchise (due to his demanding to get paid when he was so injured) than Sheed's supposed damage to the franchise. It has nothing to do with their play. That's a different conversation.

We were able to Amnesty Roy. We didn't have to give him that money in the first place. He earned it. That's what the market demanded.

There is no comparison. Sheed was far worse for this franchise. Roy was a huge positive. There is no debate.

Roy negotiated through the press when he was no longer able to play due to injury. The Blazers eventually paid him. Then, his salary was on our cap and he wasn't able to play. That's a total dick move, and if anyone else did it, s2 would rail against him. But, it was Roy, so he got a pass. Yes, we eventually got to amnesty him. Roy's a jackass. When the league found out how injured he was, there was no market for him. Minny payed him peanuts, and paid for that decision.

Again, Portland didn't have to pay him. It didn't hurt us except that he was injured and we needed his talent. We weren't going to use that money anywhere else. Money doesn't win games.

Who were we going to bring in with that money? We didn't have cap room and we can't convince free agents to come here even if we did.

We paid him that money in the hopes that he would recover. He didn't. Welcome to sports. Roy wanted to recover as well. We could have traded him or just not paid him. We chose to pay him instead. We could have required a medical workup first. We paid him anyway. Welcome to business.

The media doesn't control how much The Blazers pay players.

Yeah I read it. It directly contradicted your forever rant about Wallace being mad for no reason and that Sabas was just doing his job. Flailing one's gigantic arms wildly to try to draw a foul and repeatedly striking teammates in the face isn't textbook D, it's a dangerous play. Was it an ideal or even an appropriate response by Wallace? Again, of course not. Should Sabas have been repeatedly wildly flailing his arms in the first place trying to emphasize Shaq's ridiculous bull rushes to the hoop, especially after previously injuring a teammate? Nope, thats not ideal either. Were both of their behaviors completely equal in every way? No of course not. But both were behaviors that could have been modified.

Lol at the responses saying PDX would have won a title had it not been for Wallace's behavior. Those were the heavy handed David Stern days when the small market teams were always smacked down by his minion officials. The infamous 4th Quarter, Sabas picked up 3 fouls in 4 minutes fouling out for repeatedly throwing his neck into O'Neal's elbows. PIP was limping around and (of course) had dislocated 2 fingers on his shooting hand that caused him to miss game 6, so that left Wallace as the best PDX Blazer player. While D and team play on offense was always his calling card, he led Portland in scoring 5 of those 7 games including 30 in game 7. But the Lakers knew they could throw the Blazers around without consequence when it mattered and did so on both ends as thats how it was always officiated it for the big markets... hell, thats why Kobe & Shaq had forced their way into LA! I recall Smitty losing his shit over how he was being absolutely manhandled without calls. That was that Portland teams only real shot but the results were all Stern. The next season Sabas, Pip & Smith were another year further along on the wrong side of 30 and Bonzi then blew out his knee. In Portland's void, small market Sacramento famously got the same exact business from Stern's officials the next season. Called straight up, both the Blazers & Kings were superior teams to those Lakers. The Pistons got the straight up officiating vs that same lineup a couple years later and easily swept them.
