Sheldon and Danforth say 72-73% chance Dwight Howard signs here

At face value I just don't see it as a good fit in the locker room, contractually or on the court.

But... if the contract isn't ridiculous, if he buys into Terry's system and his place in it (which we won't know until after the fact), if winning is now higher on his priority list than looking cool & getting stats, and if Horford/Whiteside are out of the picture, then I suppose it might be the way to go. But I don't see 3 of the 4 happening.

I don't think he has said he wants to be the focal point of the offense. He just wants to see the ball more often. And as MM said...he is a decent passer for a center. I would probbaly get a feel from the agents of Whiteside or Horford first...but one thing that Dwight would be a little better at than those two.........toughness. Not saying he is a Mo Lucas type enforcer, but we need someone to stand up for our guards.

I think Cuban is going to get him to sign with the Mavs anyway

God that would be an awful move for both Dwight AND the Mavs. Cuban needs to open up his damn eyes and realize that Dirk isn't a superstar anymore. He can't keep putting retread stars around him and hope to win a championship.

He tried Vince Carter.

He tried Rajon Rondo.

He tried Deron Williams.

Dirk should be the third best player on a championship team, at best. He can't carry the load anymore. It's time to let go and blow that team up. He should have dealt Nowitzki a couple years ago when he might have still had value.

Dirk needs to do Cuban a favor and retire, Cuban is going to keep this charade going until he does.

If given the choice between dallas and portland, im sorry but we are better situated to win with longevity.

Well, our best player is significantly better than their best player..... hell, our second best player is probably better than their best player.

His time in LA and Houston might have humbled him enough to make it work here. As long he adapts to this culture and not try to transform it in to the toxic mess that was in Houston (which he owns a part of) . He could be a benefit. He still has some game.

I think if he considers this situation, I believe the culture and Blazer fans can take some credit for it. I think the series from two years ago had a lasting impression on him. From the team standpoint on how well everyone got a long and how good chemistry was. And from a fan standpoint, h could he ever forget game 6. The passion and rabidness from the fans when leaving the game.

I think it could work but he maybe too big of a ticket for Olshey.

Well he's not mentally tough. And he's never struck me as an enforcer on any level.

Sounds like Derrick Rose is close to being traded to New York, so would they even have the cap space to sign Dwight if that happened?

Afflalo is opting out. They would have to trade lopez for basically no salary

If we could sign Dwight for $25 million per year, how would you guys feel about offering up CJ/Aminu/Davis for Kevin Love? We re-sign Crabbe and Harkless, keep Plumlee, and pickup a backup point guard.

Dame
Crabbe
Harkless
Love
Howard

Love/Howard could be the best frontcourt in the NBA. With Vonleh, Plumlee as the backup frontcourt of the future. We would need to find some suitable guys to come off the bench though.
I would feel bad. I'd rather have CJ/Aminu/Davis

Dwight is totally going to go to one of the two old ass broken down teams over us now.

The knicks would be a terrible idea.

Lillard will defer to howard.

Melo, rose, and porzingas will take a lot of the spotlight away from him. Melo will want all the spotlight and it would be a constant battle. And the ny media would murder him.

Going to New York would be the kind of move that the old Dwight would make. I guess we shall see.

Dallas would pay him more. He'd have to choose winning over money to come here...not sure it's in his blood anymore

I hear he's planning on agreeing to sign with Dallas, but then change his mind and sign in NY.....

(I hope no Mavs fans read this!)

Is Jackson gonna fly down to Texas with Melo and crew and lock out Cuban

Are we sure that he is not mentally tough? He did get his team to the NBA finals. Here he would have some help.

No. You can renounce henderson, kaman, roberts, waive montero and alexander, and trade plumlee for a future 1st. Then you end up with about 27 million a year to offer him.

Not to poopoo your idea, but didn't someone post a few weeks ago talking about the minimum cap holds. & that by weaving alexandor or montero you free up zero capspace.

Unless it completely changed in the last cba, this would be false.

A minimum cap hold would be the minimum salary for a 2nd round draft pick or undrafted free agent. Which was about 480k.

Montero and alexander are on the hook next year for about 875k/each (unguaranteed) So it would give us a little more to offer howard.
