I know Sheryl through my cousin's wife, who was a Kodak All-American in NCAA basketball at the same time Sheryl played for Texas Tech, and she recently changed her Facebook status to 'engaged' to a man. I messaged her, and yes, she is no longer a lesbian and is getting married this summer.

What gives?

You messaged her, wouldn't she be the best one to let you know what happened?

All you're going to get here are a bunch of assholes saying that maybe her lifepartner got a secks change. :sherlock:

We've partied together, had fun, and had some great talks, but we're Facebook friends, not best friends. My cousin's wife is her best friend.

Surprised me, that's all. I wanted to get crandc's take on that, as well as Zags.

Right, because they must know what's going on.

"Hey, you're gay, right? I know this guy in Tallahassee who's gay. His name is Mike...you know him?"

Don't you think you'd better demand to see her long-form change-of-sexual-preference application?

A great episode of Roseanne where Leon reveals he's gay to the guys, and Chuck goes "I uh.. I know a gay guy. Name's Mike, lives in Chicago. You know him?" and Leon goes, "Yeah.. gay Mike.. in Chicago."

I did coke with Rebecca Lobo's hairdresser 5 years ago, I'll go ask him what the 411 is.

Maybe you could PM them?

Maybe I can help. She used to play basketball, right? She was a lezbo during that time and soon after, right? Maybe the longer she was away from the game the more she missed playing with balls, hence her switch to men.

Oh yeah, I remember that. Probably where I got it.

So, is being gay something people are born with, or is it just a phase for some people?

Phase! When is the last time you saw some baby boy smokin another babies pole?

From all the studies done, I have little doubt that it is an innate trait for many. That doesn't mean it is for every individual. Further, sexuality may well be a spectrum...with "pure homosexuality" at one end and "pure heterosexuality" at the other end. Most people may be near one of the end points, but others may be somewhere in between and therefore able to feel attraction, to varying degrees, to either sex. Bisexuality, though that doesn't necessarily mean equal attraction to either sex.

It obviously is from a lack of reading the bible.

there's something very anne heche going on here...

This.

She's probably bi, but was dating women for so long that she called herself a lesbian. It happens. Its no big deal really.

Here's the answer... Wasn't that hard...

Also everyone is a little homo, how else can we know who an attractive person of our same gender is? Men can identify other attractive men & women can identify other attractive women. When you look at how much of our bodies & actions are determined by hormones & brain wiring, it really isn't that far fetched to think that some peoples "sexuality meter" inverts or sits in the middle.

Sure you know her. I thought no one in here was allowed to know anyone remotely famous or connected.

All kidding aside, I have always believed being gay is not a choice. I think some people can be confused, some people can lie to themselves about what they are and some people can just be a sexual addict. Hopefully she is happy with whatever she chooses

There are heterosexuals, bisexuals, homosexuals, pansexuals, asexuals - and others with whom I am unfamiliar. There are people who know exactly what they are when they're eighteen and some who don't know what they are until they're in their forties or fifties. There are people who will deny who they are and people who will not.

As for choice, why yes, we choose to be gay or anything not considered 'normal' because the pleasure of being bullied, harassed, denied rights, assaulted and killed it just so very, very enticing. In fact my skin is flush and my heart aflutter over such prospects.

No, Swoopes at the time she came out said she was a lesbian, not bisexual.

She probably felt that way because she felt predominantly attracted to women. Later, i.e. now, she's apparently realized she's attracted enough to men to have romantic relationships with them. When you factor in social pressures (generally, but not always, toward traditional views), it can be more complex to determine what you want/need.

the thing is she was naked in the lockerroomz.... surrounded by taught, athletic nude wet boobies and naked female vaginas just raw and sweaty from hard work on the court...of course you're going to want that stuff. So she figured, "hey, that's not bad at all".

then she was removed from that many boobs, and figured she was missing cawk in her life.
