Hey, what the hell, someone had been joking in the christmas thread about the Lillard shirt I made for myself that I should sell them, so, $15 plus shipping if necessary, if someone wants a Lillard shirt.

Can usually do any size, although the XXL requested from someone before was tough to come by. I haven't had any problems so far, I've made myself 3 or 4 different shirts, and have had no issue at all with shrinkage.
And I've washed, I dunno, on warm, and dried them with no issues. Paint sees no wear.

Let's just say in small volumes he probably has nothing to worry about. But as a business model it scales poorly.

yeah, I imagine painting up 2 or 3 of these on here for people isn't going to get me chased with a cease and desist letter. Now, if I were to print up 40 or 50 and stood outside the RG trying to sell them, maybe so.

likeness depends on the copyright of the said media i believe, such as, if i take a picture of michael jordan, i can sell that picture, but not to mass production or tie ins, such as i couldnt sell a basketball with that picture on the package...

Law is much more lenient about parody. If you make up a design making fun of a current or past Blazer or Laker, it's probably a lot safer. I mean, they can still sue you and they have a lot more money to spend on legal fees than you probably do, but in the end you'd be vindicated.

In the end intellectual property law seems to have less to do with what is actually legal and more to do with your willingness to defend your side in court.

If you copied the picture from a photograph, the copyright is that for the photographer.
If you drew the face from memory, then you hold the copyright for that image.
However, you should be careful when using Lillard's name in anything. You definitely can't use any of the Blazers intellectual property.
If you're using his likeness to make a profit, he can go after you unless your use of the image will fall under fair use.

If its just a face, that you drew, it should be ok as long as you're not making that a trademark or anything or being overly agressive. Of course, you can't use it in anything that would be considered libelous.

For some weird reason, the Madden games don't have Belichik in them coaching NE. Not sure what the deal is there.

EA Sports, which produces the game, says it has a licensing contract with the NFL Coaches Association. It pays the NFLCA for the use of the coaches’ name and/or likeness, according to an EA Sports spokeswoman. The NFLCA then doles the money back to its members, according to the association.

There’s one hitch with Belichick. He refuses to join the NFLCA, the only active head coach who isn’t a member, according to the group.
