We are about to have a vote to unionize all the TV Broadcast workers in Portland. I joked around at the last meeting and volunteered to be the muscle of our new union. The big wig union reps from back east did NOT think that was funny..... even though the whole room was cracking up!

How are you going to vote?

They were thinking to themselves, "what muscle?"

It is not worth answering because it is a stupid question.

Unskilled means no training required. Mmmkay?

Skilled requires years in some combination of education, training and/or apprenticeship.

Folks who spend years PAYING out money, earning little to nothing so they are more productive/valuable usually do and should make significantly more than those that make none of those very significant sacrifices.

So, if, according to Unions, unskilled are worth $60k per year, what should skilled workers make? $120k? See the problem?

what kind of money do you think a UPS driver should make?

Actually not sure yet. CONS...... % of my check will be gone. PROS......Retirement plan, health benefits and companies can't come into Oregon and lowball us on our day rates! Some events come through and offer us shit rates, no travel pay, no per diem......they can't do it to guys in Seattle, the bay area or LA bcause they are union....... and some people actually accept it.

but then you will be an unskilled moocher! and whos to say they cant hire people for minimum wage!?

My union dues are less than 5%.

Racked up $250,000 in medical bills last year that netted me a total of $200 bucks.

Unions are horrible!

^Damn! Good for you. Health benefits is the main draw for me.

I had always wondered what barfo did for a living. :)

He seems a wee bit angry; I'm not angry. Also, he's balding and I'm not. And he's a longshoreman and I'm not. Otherwise, I guess it could be me.

Just found out that the guy named Fuck You Cocksucker is the only child of Ima Cocksucker, a toothless prostitute in Longview.

the detective strikes again!

I stumbled upon it when visiting uniondumbshits.com.

No wonder poor Fuck You is so angry. Momma Ima Cocksucker has serviced half the members of Local 4.

you shouldnt go there, it only boosts their ad revenue, further empowering them to keep their unearned jobs

Its funny how a certain segment of society has such a problem with unions. Those people are never affiliated with unions and unionized work doesnt effect them in any way. Is it like some form of envy?

Unions are good for the economy!

Union members just cut the breaks on railroad cars and destroyed 20 tons of grain. That's affecting somebody, somewhere.

Plus, the guy in that video would never be able to keep a job without his daddy, Mr. Union Boss, holding his hand through life.

no silly, everyone working minimum wage with no benefits is good for the economy, at least until we all run out of money to buy superawesomewhatevers, then its obamas fault

I've, both, worked in unions and managed in union operations. While helping to raise the bar for wages and benefits, I never necessarily saw them useful for raising the bar for productivity and/or innovation.

I dont see a problem with productivity. For every lazy employee theres 2 hard-working employees. See how much productivity you get if they do away with the unions and slash in half workers wages.

not every union guy/muslim is a thug/terrorist

most serial killers are white men, but most white men are not serial killers

All unions are like that, I forgot. D'oh!

well, then they can fire you for no reason, and when everybody is so poor that they need their jobs simply to buy scraps of food, they will have the obedience they so desperately crave

As just a few successful examples, see: WINCO, Costco, Starbucks, Whole Foods.

I love the idea of employee-owned companies. To me, that's where all if this strikes a nice balance.

Less pay and less benefits for the middle class is really what neo-con's think is going to stimulate this economy?

HA!

Co-Ops are a really good deal. But, then you have other companies making record profit while unionized. Unions arent hurting them. Those company's you listed are also selling a brand. Not all unionized company's are doing that.

havent been to a whole foods lately, but most of the employees at starbucks and costco are miserable fucks who look like they are a drink away from killing themselves and taking a busload of people with them
