I bet he's writing about the Cubs/White Sox, right now.....his next article.
i know this is long, but worth it.
59 I fill much better off, for your strong suggestion to buy the Book "Yankee Century" (Which IS Hands down the best book of all I have ever read, on the NY Highlanders to Yankees, Historical Reference worth material). Which led me to this:
http://www.amazon.com/The-Era-1947-1957-Yankees-Dodgers/dp/0803278055
Another Classic great book is:

"The Bums" articulated best what a hardcore Intra-City insight b/t the Yanx, Giants and Bums. I highly suggest a book I got when I got Yankees Century, "The Era: 1947-1957 When the Yankees, Giants and Dodgers Ruled the World". Is a great read. "The Bums" was a classic read, revealing over and over, how hard core the NY rivalries were. Men were literally stabbing another to death, over a Produce stand in the Supermarket.
Doesn't get harder than that. Plus NY still has the overall best by far, Intra-Town rivalries, and always will.
NTM- a hardcore Bums fanatic, came home haggard every day from a long hard labor job, to his B&W TV. A TV dinner on a TV Stand, with cans of Beer. Who watched every Game in his Brooklyn Flat, saw the 53 Bums lose the Series, in disgust, he stood up, threw his full beer can at his TV screen. Blew The Screen out, and His Heart too. No shit, a fatal heart attack. Therein, the proof, NY Intra-Town Rivalries will always exceed any other Metropolis in eternity.
NY Intra-town no doubt the best of all. With both Stengel, and Berra, went cross town to Queens. NTM-Ruth to Brooklyn. The Mets were one of the first expansion teams, to go from worst to WS Champs, in less than a decade. If one weren't in the mix, usually the other was, with exception of a few short periods. Had MLB the Wild Card system, 86 had good odds, it would be a Intra-City Mets/Yanx showdown.
I lived a short hop from both Frisco and Oakland, since the A's moved in, 1967. There's never been really a big rivalry b/t them. Maybe for ratings, or attendance. Even the Loma-Prieta Earthquake, over whelmed viewing audiences, making the 89 Series, seem boring. NTM-The Giants folded early.
In L.A. area, now for 45 years, the Freeway Series, has always been the last 3 games of Exhibition/ST.
Most looked forward to those ST games.
This was the year of best odds, for the 1st Freeway Series, had good odds it could of happened. L.A. fair weathered fans, have yet to see any cross town rivalry Series at all.
But, there is really no bad blood, thus little excitement, b/t the Bums & Halos, from my Eagles Nest up here, looking down at the City of Angels. Hell, even if the Bums/Halos had a WS, the crowds would still leave after the 6th inning, by the ten 1,000s, to beat the freeway plugged artery, from what they sought to avoid, creating just what they wanted to avoid. L.A. Fair Weather Fans, worry more about getting into an auto accident, a touch n go drive on a fkd up freeway, the true test of any Preachers Faith, without swearing. Like Steve Martin's satirical Movie: LA Story, pulling out his gun from the glove box, as shooting time always begins on time, one can set their watch to it.
